Oh my.
There's some feeble action in the cooking and baking forum this morning.
Not much, but at least a little tiny bit.
One wishes Mrs. Alfred Packer would hurry up and get back.

Does anyone juice? I could use some combination suggestions :)
I have borrowed a friends juicer - all the meds seem to be making me worse and I'm going to do what I can nutritionally for a while - and am looking for any favorite combinations to try. I will mainly be using veggies - with green apple. But I would love any suggestions you may have.
I learned the too much celery in the mix equals = icky lesson yesterday.
No primitive's been at this campfire yet, but the Lucinda primitive's in luck.
franksolich knows juices.
franksolich uses a blender to juice things all the time.
In fact, during the spring, summer, and autumn, the blender here is used more than the stove.
Anyway.
Just empty the icebox of all fresh vegetables and juice them. All together. It's great.

Add ice too, to make it cold for drinking on hot days.

Coach needs to take Jack LaLanne's place in the juicer commercials.

I like juices mixed-up a bit more - a fruit/vegetable ratio of about 75%/25% makes for a delicious and nutritious drink. The down-side is the concoction usually looks ghastly... like swamp water.. but if you can get by the looks, you are good-to-go.

I'm with Frank. Blend it all together. My only exception to this rule is to only use bananas that are covered in black blobs, splotches, and spots. If they aren't practically rotten, I get cramps almost bad enough to make me go to the emergency room. Almost.
If the primitives invest in a Vita-Mix, they can make their blended creations piping hot or icy cold, merely by flipping a switch that changes the direction of the motor is spinning. We had one of those things when I was growing up, and it always fascinated me.
That reminds me, I need to reaffirm my dibs on my mother's Vitamix 3600 when she decides to give it up.

I have one of those darn things and I find there are 2 reasons I have it in storage today.
First , they are the devil to clean.
Second, I cannot place juice that is left over in the Fridge for a day or so. Seems that the directions say the juice will loose its benefits unless used within an hour or so.
I have wondered if the juice can be frozen to use later, and the pulp used as fiber in cooking if frozen but if anyone out there knows please let me know.-------Anyone juice tomatoes, celery, and frozen it to later use in Bloody Marys ???
The fiber, can it be dehydrated and stored for future use at room temperature????
Lots of things I would like to do with the machine the only hold back is the cleaning needed after getting 2- 8 oz. glasses of juice.

Some poke-salad, poison oak and ivy should make a thrilling mix that'll just tickle her insides to a fare-U-well. :-)
