Not a lot of action on this thread which is suprising, they usually have their noses firmly planted in Dear Leaders ass. (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=439x1394335)

I'm asking for a personal favor: Please help President Obama and my friend Maia... Updated at 9:01 PM
Edited on Thu Jun-30-11 11:32 PM by Skinner
My good friend Maia works on the Obama campaign. The staff is having a competition for who can get the most people to donate on their personal fundraising page. The contest ends tonight at midnight (your local time), and right now Maia is in a dead heat with another staff member for first place. As I post this message, she is only 3 gifts ahead.
First prize is a phone call from President Obama. If Maia wins, she is going to ask that President Obama call her dad. He was a county commissioner in Washington state who took her door-knocking for Democratic candidates when she was six. He woke her up early on her 18th birthday to tell her she could only vote Dem. Maia really wants to win this prize for her dad. He would be thrilled.
No donation is too small. Just give $5 if you can. Donate on her personal page, here:

THANK YOU!

Please kick and rec this thread so more DUers can help!
Kinda funny, he has gone the CaliforniaPeggy route of individually thanking everyone that responds with a pledge, he just doesn't do the "My Dear InsertRandomIdiotHere" thing.

Wow, that is a great to celebrate your daughter's birthday :whatever:
-
Any bets on how many of those deadbeats actually send money?

Stupid scrunt mis-spelled Gia.
Ghai, Giaia, Ghila, whatever.

Boy I know my daughter just couldn't wait for me to wake her on her 18th birthday to tell her how to vote! I never tried to influence how my children voted. I thought it was a personal choice. I relied on what I taught them about life to influence their vote. Silly me!
What an absolute waste of humanity these turds are!

No, shit.
My eldest son is pretty much a lib.
He gets a bit cranky if I mention the failures of the current administration.
I try not to do that. :whistling:

Yeah, I'm saddled with a DIL who actually voted for the POS in the Oval orifice! I tend to rub it in every chance I get!
Can't imagine why we don't get along!

Tempting at times.
Peace in the family sort of thing.
There's a time and a place.
primatives can't seem to understand that concept.

Screw that! Anyone idiot that voted for the imitation messiah is on my shit list, period! Besides, my son feels the same way! She deserves everything we can give her. She fell for that "if you don't vote for the muslim, ya must be racist" bullshit!

:lmao: :rotf: :lmao: :rotf: I snorted.
The very idea, that this father would wake his daughter and say that! What is this, a dictatorship? My parents never told me who to vote for. I made some stupid votes when I was a mush-headed college student, and fortunately they did no harm; they were loser votes. My parents never told me which way to vote, it was my siblings that rained down ridicule and derision on my head when I mentioned my vote.
I came to within a month of joining the real world.
-
First it was "Just $10 away from....", then it was "Just $15 for..." and now it's "I'm just $5 away from getting a call from the president."
I've always said, "Democrats can be bought .......cheaply."

How can ANYONE look at the state of the nation presently and decide to vote for the same jackass again?
-
My first time voting was in 88.
Now that I think about it they actually had someone come and register us to vote IN my high school. Don't know if that was a prototype of Motor Voter or a innocent civics and responsibilities of a citizen thing.
My first vote was for Bush. However, my next vote was for Doug Wilder. I was pretty informed about things on a national level (for a 18 year old) but I had zero idea about the state level. The only reason in the world I even voted for him was because "hey, the first black governor, neat!". Sound familar?
My new dream requirements to vote are as follows:
1 You only get to vote if you pay taxes ( I want to see a card from the IRS stating you didn't get everything back in a refund.)
2 Must be 26 and older
3 Or served in the military
That last bit is kind of Starship Troopers but I think it is a good one.

Bolded suits me.
I first voted in 1968...I was 2 weeks to young to vote in 1966.
They have things backwards now. Back in 1966, you were smart enough to drink beer at 18 but to stupid to vote until you were 21. Now, they think you're smart enough (or is that dumb enough) to vote at 18 but to stupid to drink anything until you're 21.
Remember this one..."Old enough to fight, old enough to vote"?
Hell, I was fighting in grammer school but they wouldn't let me vote.
