Is it posible that financials could be released to DU members and $ contributors?
By financials, I mean profit and loss, balance sheet, and significant sources and uses of funds.
Do the admins make a living from DU or DU and other political work?
I do not want at all to be banned as this is my most accessed and posting website and lurked for years before joining and donating.
I have been a Democratic Party member before some of our national leaders and am a proud liberal American.
This would clear up various rumors especially if large donators were identified.

1. The largest donations we have ever received were $1,000.
The donors in question were regular DU members. Two people.
We have never received any donations from political organizations.
Our average donation is around $15.
The admins do not have any other sources of income. DU is our job.
If you know any "large donors" who are looking to shower DU with money, please pass along my email address: skinner@democraticunderground.com
You tell 'em, Skins. The primitives aren't competent to know financial stuff anyway.
But franksolich is curious; "average donation around $15" = $15,000 per quarterly fund-raiser.
Unh-unh.

$15 ???? I guess the Obama economy and hyper inflation has hit the DUmp. Why, I can remember when everything was "Just $10" short of happening.

You know, sir, I know my fellow alum Skins is a model of honesty and integrity; he's never lied.
I'll be the first one to stand up to say that; my fellow alum has never lied.
Really, he hasn't. On the Head of St. John the Baptist, I can swear to that.
However.
"Never lying" and "telling the whole story" are not the same thing.
However again.
Skins's island is his private property, and he's free to do with it, to report on it, as he wishes.
This is still America.
And besides, I would never share financial information with primitives; they don't deserve it, they wouldn't understand it, and they'd try to steal it.

I noticed that no one else has posted on this thread. Fools and their money...

This is from the "Ask The Administrators" forum.
Only the original questioner and one of the Three Stooges can participate in a thread there.
And the original questioner can continue on with the "dialogue," but no other primitive can join in.

Geez, like Skinner is gonna let that info out of the vault. Vain capitalist that he is. He's making enough off the inmates at the Island to support 2 6-digit salaries and minimun wage for the guy that sweeps the floor that's not allowed at the controls any more, Lord Whatshisname.
Plus, luxurious vacations for he and his family 3-4 times a year.
$15 G a quarter my foot.

Is that because some people think they're financed by the DNC? also does a website have to release that info at all?

Yeah.
And to the second question, no, if it's privately owned, such as Skins's island is.
Ha ha to the nosy primitives, who wouldn't understand an income-expense report or a balance sheet anyway.

Really stupid rules too. Back in the good old days, the Ask the Admins forum was a gold mine. The threads were free-for-alls.

As much as I think Skinner is a dick with ears, I salute his ability to grow a website and earn money from it. If he has to fleece idiotic liberals in order to do so, well, more power to him. And he owes nothing in the way of financials to people who consume his product. I'd tell them to go take a flying **** off of Mount Mindyour****ingbusiness.

Ya gotta love them DUmmies. Think they own Skinner's Island, probably thinks he's owed a rebate or dividend check.
Skinner should charge the DUmmies by the word with a cost reduction for volume posting. Know-it-all Nadin would be posting for free, unless there were a surcharge for banality and stupidity.

See I have to disagree with you here, they do own it -- or rather the site operates because of their donations. It's the same as FR. Don't whine with your hand out for money, and then claim some elitist bullshit "it's my site" attitude.
The donation sign is up? they should demand an accounting on how the money is spent or collectively refuse to donate.
I would love to see the financials on this site.

One time Skins let the cat out of the bag, admitting that $25,000 from a quarterly fund-raiser was "good," and not usually the case. But that was back in 2005, when the George Bush prosperity was in full swing, and even primitives had money.
What I meant earlier about "being honest, but not telling the whole story," was that Skins and Lord Marblehead own a web-design business that is doing well, most of their clients being Democrat-controlled governmental (federal and state) bureaucracies. Skins's island is not their only business.
Nothing wrong with that, nothing at all, but it just seems less than the full story.

This is going to restart rumors about the identity of coach's mole.
