Title: My puppy is having surgery today
Post by: Tucker on June 28, 2011, 11:20:24 AM
She blew out her knee. She will need to be put to sleep to do the surgery. She had the other knee did last year so I know what to expect, but still...

Nervous wreck.

Anyone with a pet-dog, cat, or whatever--can relate.  She'll be fine.

Seeing that it was a knee . . . will she be able to play football this season?

How old is your puppy?

Mine never seems to look as sweet as after he comes off anesthesia.  Must be some heart-wrenching guilt.  :)

I'd be a wreck too.  Please post how the little doll is recovering when you get her home.

The pup will be fine, Tuck. And yeah, there's a tiny little concern with the anesthesia thing, but the pup will be fine.

You, however, sound like you need a beer.   :cheersmate:

Poor little puppy.  I adopted two adorable little mutts a few weeks ago and all they do is run around, play fight, and annoy the shit out of the adult dogs and the cats.  Your major task and headache will be to keep her quiet.  Fortunately, it seems to me animals heal faster than people, so hopefully she'll be back to her normal self real soon.

Whenever any of my pets have to go in for surgery the vet offers a pre surgery blood test to ensure all is well before the anesthesia is used.  It does help alleviate my concern as to recovery.  Of course, it's not cheap, but I have CareCredit and it gets a vigorous workout at the vet on a regular basis, haven't paid any finance charges yet though.  CareCredit is a godsend for me since insuring a dozen pets would cost me too much.

Again, hope your puppy is already out of surgery and doing well.  They always look so cute, albeit dopey, right after surgery.

She'll be fine. The hard part will be seeing her post op and keeping her spirits up over the next couple weeks.
Go have that beer with Eupher and you'll be fine too.  :)

Surgeon just called. All went well. She's in recovery. I can pick her up tomorrow at 11 AM.

I don't have any money for beer. This one cost 3K. Her other knee was 3,200. I must have received a frequent customer discount.

BTW. She's a Yorkie and she is 8.

Ouch. That's a lotta money wrapped up in such a little package, but I'm real glad she did well.

You didn't need the beer anyway, though I'm happy to send you a cyber-beer later on when I can get to my Photobucket account.  :-)

Thanks. The good news is reward enough. As to the money, you can't take it with you. I always viewed money as something you need only if you don't die today. Let tomorrow take care of tomorrow.

Good to hear the pupper-dog is doing ok post op.

Since you turned down the beer, Daddy...you need to go have a hot fudge sundae, my favorite cure-all for stress.

<<<<Hugs>>>>

are you down here yet?

I'm in MI again. Debating on whether to rent the house out or leave it sparsely furnished and exit the state fir two years hoping the market recovers somewhat. It's down about 40%. It's paid for but that's a lot of money to throw away.

You have a very good attitude. You're a good person to take such good care of your pets.  Glad that the pup did alright with the surgery. At least at 8 she won't be as difficult to handle after surgery than an under one year old would be.

Find a good property management company and rent it out. Should cost you 10% of the monthly rent. Better than leaving it empty. Let them find the renter, and collect the rent and be responsible for getting any repairs done. I rented my house for 2 yrs before I sold it, and had a guy in my office handle all of it. Made it realllllly easy. They never bothered me.

I'm glad to hear about the pup.  We'd do the same for ours.  What a good heart you have!
