Suspected flash mob rips off Upper Darby Sears (With Video)

UPPER DARBY — A mob of about 40 people stormed into the Sears department store on 69th Street Thursday, and in a flash stole thousands of dollars worth of merchandise, officials said.

Police were able to round up 15 juveniles and one adult, 19, all from West Philadelphia.

“They came in on the El train and hit Sears,” police Superintendent Michael Chitwood said. “They stole sneakers, socks, watches, whatever they could get their hands on, and left.

“Imagine the guts of this gang of young hoodlums. One was 11 years old. The others arrested ranged from 12 to 16 years old. They planned this out earlier in the day on a social networking site. It was pre-planned. They got on the El, got off at 69th Street Terminal and walked up the hill to Sears.”

Kyree Marsh, 19, of the 5500 block of Spruce Street, Philadelphia, was arrested and charged with retail theft, conspiracy to retail theft and corruption of minors.

Uh, is Kyree a male or female?

Stuff like this must be happening everywhere, even in quiet little Sarasota. When I was getting my glasses, the guy adjusting the frames kept watching the store. He told me they've been hit by professional groups that come in and just wipe them out of frames.

Needless to say I'm going back tomorrow for another adjustment. The new glasses are killing me, giving me a headache, as the right side is too tight and hurting.

Curtis Sliwagh was on Fox tonight wearing his beret and saying that those thugs needed to be taught a serious lesson, not analyzed and have excuses made for them.

I think this is only going to spread with more news coverage .

And we need that front and center on the news.

It has been happening right near Michigan Avenue in Chicago.  A pretty safe area.  I used to walk about nine blocks to my company's bank on Michigan Ave. a couple times a week, and the worst thing that I ever encountered was a panhandler or someone trying to sell me the homeless rag "Streetwise".

Sad.

I hope this is just a fad.

Probably not so long as it keeps working.

In this economy? Expect it to get worse.

Yeah, must be the economy. Geeze.  ::) No, outside of lala land, the real distinguishing factor with a flash mob is the use of new technology - what they do is text each other messages to meet at some store to loot at a specific time. Then they overwhelm with numbers, and disperse as quickly as they amassed. Poor widdle thugs, victims of Obaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahma's economy they're not.

Yep, they would be doing this regardless of the economy.

This could easily be a case where adults learn from the kids and start doing the same thing. Especially around Christmas. After all, that shiny and noisy box in your living room tells you that you have to have stuff to be somebody.

So now it's tv's and "the parent"'s fault for these thugs being sooooooooooo materialistic that they JUST HAVE TO LOOT in huge mobs? You could set your own example by throwing away YOUR own "stuff", starting with your keyboard.

Note to self: Carry more mags.

Already carrying (4) 13-round mags.  53 rounds on hand, including the one in the pipe.  Primary purpose: fight my way back to the MAK-90 w/ 75-round drums that I never should have stepped away from in the first place.

Sliwa said to give them "wooden shampoos."   :lmao:

Hawk, what you're saying sounds like sociology-speak balloon juice.  How about getting down to the core of right vs. wrong?

Huh?

I never said this was right. Of course it's wrong. How does me expecting it to only get worse translate into that?
