It is time to fight back!
Dear Supporters,
Chicago Democrats are using their redistricting power to ignore the will of the people and thereby, severely alter the political landscape in Illinois for the next decade.
Voters spoke loud and clear last November and we did not come this far just to sit back and watch this power grab happen. Everything we have worked for is now at stake, especially as we see nearly 50% of Illinois’ 11th Congressional District redrawn into districts represented by Chicago Democrats. This does not serve the public’s interest and cannot stand.
An historic six Republican incumbents, including me, are their targets – making it the most partisan congressional map in the nation.
But why the historic, partisan power grab, you ask?
Congressman Steve Israel, who heads the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, summed it up perfectly when he recently stated the path toward a Democratic House majority must go through Illinois.
With only 24 seats separating Nancy Pelosi from the speaker’s chair, Democrats are poised to take back their majority – no matter what they have to do or the voters they have to disfranchise…and Senator Durbin, Governor Quinn and Speaker Madigan are willing accomplices in helping advance Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi’s shared agenda: UNCHECKED POWER.
The redistricting bill currently awaits Governor Quinn’s signature but the Illinois Republican delegation will do what is necessary to ensure that this map does not stand.
As we wait for the full legislative redistricting process to finalize, make no mistake that I will fight just as hard to retain my seat as I did to win it…I am running for re-election!
Surviving this process will take enormous financial resources and I am turning to you, my supporters who got me here, to continue to stand by me as I face difficult challenges.
It will take a full-blown campaign to illustrate my accomplishments in office and I very well may be running against a credible Democrat in a district designed to strongly favor Democrats. I cannot wait until this process finalizes so I can come out swinging hard to keep this seat.
I’ve been in bigger fights, I didn’t give then, and I will not back down now.
The more funds raised by June 30th, the better it will be to demonstrate my ability to compete against potential opponents. As such, every dollar you contribute to my campaign now, could avert a much stronger and more expensive challenge in 2012.
Since we earned back the majority in the U.S. House of Representatives, we have set about fundamentally changing the course of our federal government. A year ago, Congress was talking about how much money to spend but now we are talking about how much to cut – a debate that will be especially important as we continue to discuss the FY ’12 budget with President Obama and Senator Reid. We cannot let the work we’ve done this year be for nothing.
I ask for your urgent consideration of a maximum contribution to help me raise the funds needed to endure the mapping of a new district and new voters to inform.
To help show our determination to keep this seat and keep Pelosi out of the speaker’s seat– please send your maximum contribution by June 30th.
Kinzinger is a good, solid, Republican Conservative. BUT, Chicago demoncraps have eliminated him in their redistricting map. I am pissed!!!!
Quinn has signed the damned bill! :redbird: :argh:
