Rep. Anthony Weiner's Nissan Pathfinder is unregistered, DMV says Updated at 2:51 PM
Rep. Anthony Weiner has been having a pretty shitty month (deserved or not). Amid calls to resign, seeking treatment for his "issues," and being generally condemned by the New York City population, he's now been busted for driving around in an unregistered car! Some sharp-eyed individual was able to catch that the July 2007 registration sticker on Weiner's Nissan Pathfinder had expired, note that there was no visible inspection sticker -- and checked with the DMV, who confirmed that the license plate, which had actually been issued to another of Weiner's cars, had expired in 2006.
While the Daily News takes this fact and runs with it -- "Lying about sexting apparently isn't Rep. Anthony Weiner's only gray area" -- we are loath to equate the two misdeeds. Still, it's not good. Weiner -- man. We're just shaking our heads, here.

when it rain it pours, why wouldn't he just register his car?

I'm in shock that a liberal wouldn't happily register his vehicle which is a tax, and they love taxes so much.
:-)

3. Oh, ffs
He probably ripped the tag off his mattress, too, and perhaps he even used the pictures and accounts of a game without the express written consent of Major League Baseball.
And I hear it from a very highly placed source that, in 1989, he returned a VHS copy of "Ghostbusters II" to Blockbuster without rewinding it.
I demand more investigations!
Yeah never mind that he is illegally driving his vehicle.

7. when the RW sets out to destroy you, they will grasp at any straw
so for gawd's sake, make sure you're clean if you want to be an elected progressive!! (why i will never run for office)
And if a repuke was a day late in renewing his or her registration I'm sure you would yawn over that too.
No you would be screaming for frogmarching and the usual stuff reserved for repukes.

20. I really hate it when pols don't think they have to abide by "little people" rules.
And apparently he switched his plates out because the other ones didn't say CONGRESS on them. He's looking more and more like a common asshole who really gets off on being seen as powerful. I just find it all incredibly distasteful at this point.
No strong message can survive a messenger this weak. He needs to go.
He's a frigging liberal so of course the laws for little people do not apply.

That is all.

The Nissan Pathfinder is manufactured here in right-to-work red state hell, just a short hop down I-24 in Smyrna, Tennessee. UAW troublemakers did force an force a vote in an attempt to organize a local union at the Smyrna plant. They fell just a few votes shy of getting 30% of the vote, the most smashing defeat the UAW has suffered in a representation election in many years.
Aside from his socialist politics, his contemptible personality, and his perverted need to wag his weiner in public, folks here in red state hell appreciate Rep. Weiner's support for profitable, sustainable, non-union manufacturing.

His tags have been expired for almost four years and he never got caught driving illegally? He only now got caught because someone turned him in. Did I read this correctly?

Or maybe he just got "warnings' and kept ignoring them, and the cops let it pass.
-
Four years? That's it?
The people around here have him beat. I've seen POS cars and more often trucks that haven't been inspected/registered for far longer then that.
I'm not so worried about registration as I am with someone having insurance, but it's all important.

How true that is. They love their liberalism until it affects them. (And yet, the other liberals cannot see through this?! I guess liberalism really is lunacy based.) Ironic that the weiner boy didn't have the vehicle registered? I think not.

That may be the case. In KY the statutes used to read (back in my LE days many years past) that if a legislature is in session a legislator can legally speed with the excuse of getting to the voting venue in time. Over the years that statute was interpreted pretty broadly.

funny thing is if this was Sarah Palin being caught in all this shit they would be in heaven..............

And why, pray tell, would someone who doesn't register a vehicle feel anymore compelled to insure the same?
BTW what are your current INS regs up there. Last time I thought to head north I had to boost the insurance on my RV considerably.

Bingo.

You're right, and that would be awful.
But we'd all take a peek at the pictures.

That's the thing. We aren't talking about a month where you forget to put the new sticker on. I think the claim is that he paid the registration for his Nissan Pathfinder, but he switched the license plates.
Maybe it is a California thing, but I thought that you weren't allowed to arbitrarily change license plates.

I know here, that if you get a new car, you get a new license plate. The car dealership sends in the application, and gives a temporary tag that lasts for 30 days. If you buy a used car, from an individual, the seller removes their plate before giving the car over to the buyer. The buyer has to go buy a new plate.
Otherwise, unless you switch to a specialized plate (Save the Smokies, whales, snail darters, etc) or to a personalized plate (either one costs considerably more than a basic plate) ... every year you pay for new "tags" which are nothing but little stickers with the last two digits of the next year and the month of expiration.
You get stopped by the cops, you better hope the plate matches the car and you. My Runnin' Buddy and her son both have black cars, same year, but different makes. When she picked up her new tags, she picked up her son's at the same time. She didn't know she gave him the wrong tags. He got stopped a couple of weeks ago for a taillight or headlight out, can't remember...but he's in a college town and it was 3am. By the time he was pulled over, the first cop had called in the plate number.. which didn't match and he had called for backup... 2 other police cars arrived. The first cop assumed was a stolen car. She got a phone call at 3 in the morning from the police department. Since her "story" matched her son's, and both cars were registered to the same address even though they have different last names, they let him go with a warning (fortunately he was sober...he came home a couple of days later to switch the tags.)
Maybe if you have a congressional plate, it doesn't matter if laws are broken. ::)

We have to surrender our plates in Nevada if we want new ones.

Really? That boggles my mind bit. I've got the plates for every car I've ever owned. I think I could even reregister them if I wished but I'm not sure.

Yes.
You cannot keep your old plates if you wish to get new ones. You can transfer plates from one car to another, but if you sell a car, you MUST give those plates back to the DMV. I don't fully understand why, but whatever, I don't make the rules around here.
In Wisconsin, you can keep your plates. My dad still has the first set of plates he had on his 78 (I think) Ford Thunderbird.
-
He had plates for an old car, that had congressman on them. I think that explains why he didn't get a ticket.

Saw the Weinermobile on the side of the road a few months back. One of these days I will have to figure how to get the pics off my cell phone. It was in town for an event and wouldn't start so there was a guy trying to jump it. :-)
I did get to check out the inside and may even have a pic on the phone.

Yeah, like you jag-dorks left David Vitter, Larry Craig & Mark Foley alone. :whatever:

Ironically, Rep. Paul Ryan worked as a Wienermobile driver while in college.

If you have email capabilities with your cell phone...email them to yourself. That's what I do. I'm sure there's another way, but I KNOW how to do it this way! :-)

That is the way I did it last time too, but, it is a pain in the posterior. I have been procrastinating about ordering a usb cable for it. Plus I don't get full bars in the house (pre paid Virgin phone) so I mailed the last one from the back yard. IOW I only do this on a nice day but, then the sun makes it hard to read the display telling me what to do. :thatsright:
I may have become a Luddite in my old age. :thatsright:
I didn't even want the camera but that is a whole other story. :lmao:

I have a TracFone and I do the same thing, but I can get the signal inside. Supposedly I could send pictures straight to Facebook, but have never figured that one out.

Yeah, I think it's pretty clear that you have, except that it's really rare for a Luddite to know what that word means.
I'm paying for two iPhone4s, but am still happy with my own 4-year-old RAZR.
At least I know how to download the lousy photos it takes, and I don't waste all day on "Words with Friends".
No one calls me a Luddite. Usually they say "troglodyte".

I been told I resemble that too. Say, isn't that actually a cross between a troll and a garden gnome?? :rotf:

I don't know. But that thing you describe, made of cement, is on sale at TiTtyboy's garden trinket shop.
He won't sell it to you if you're wearing your "W '04" ballcap.

Well what if I wore it backward? :mental:
Too bad Frank is TDY for the Tit/Sono mash-up.
I have been loosely following it thinking back to the first time I read a Sono post and then being amazed at how fast the post count grew.
