DILLWYN, Va. – Crouched in her cell, Ophelia De'lonta hoped three green disposable razors from the prison commissary would give her what the Virginia Department of Corrections will not — a sex change.
It had been several years since she had felt the urges, but she had been fighting them for weeks. But like numerous other times, she failed to get rid of what she calls "that thing" between her legs, the last evidence she was born a male.
Months after the October castration attempt, De'lonta filed a federal lawsuit Friday claiming the state has failed its duty to provide adequate medical care because it won't give her the operation. She says the surgery is needed to treat her gender identity disorder, a mental illness in which people believe they were born the wrong gender...

No No No, life should not work this way.
People in prison are not there to get face lifts, hair plugs or change their sex. They are there to protect the citizens from the former and perhaps future acts they have done.. or will do if realeased. Next thing you know violent sex offenders will demand pornography to ease their tension, mental health issue.
Prison in no way has to satisfy the mental needs of a prisoner, they are to be fed, allowed to take showers and have some exercise time. Doctors and dentists, religious issues and free Lawyers.
If prisoners are to be funded by Government money for sex change operations, why cannot citizens who do not break the law not be given the same free treatment.
Why cannot Woman in prison get free face lifts and boob jobs at our expense????? Heck if the Government will pay for a criminals sex change, will that also wander into woman that want a dick???
A bit off topic.
Reminds me of a crazy [ so they said ] lady that was homeless. she spent summers in a tent and come fall she would pick a cool almost dusk time to march down the street throwing bricks she had in her shopping basket into store windows.
She was naturally arrested and most years had to spend the winter in a warm jail, 3 hots and a cot and come spring she got out. She continued this way for about 8 years, every year she received free dentist care, health checkups and regular hot showers. For about 9 months each year she had assess to TV, Radio and got to become friends with the other woman, arts and crafts and lessons in painting and when the temperature went below zero and a blizzard she could look out the window all cosy and warm.
This woman was an inspiration for me on how to beat the system, until one summer night some kids set fire to her tent and she passed away. No one claimed the body, no family or friends other then those she met in jail and the guards.

Local anaesthetic is expensive. They're welcome to the straight razor though.

Normally someone who was so possessed of a desire they would be willing to go to self-destructive/mutilating lengths would be remitted for psychiatric treament. This includes people seeking "normal" desires like heterosexual pursuits (think of someone who cuts himself over unrequited affection).
But because liberals have succeeded in distorting society's notions of "normal" what matters most isn't the fact this idiot is diseased in at least one regard but that society cater to his mania.
Meanwhile, anyone who protests that it is not society's obligation to cater to psycho-phsiological distortions--particularly those pressed to self-mutilating ends--shall be branded as being of an unhealthy mindset that is too destructive to be allowed to go untreated.
