If I'm going to blame our collapse as a society on just one thing...
I would blame the fact that Right Wing propaganda is the single most important factor at getting too many Americans to work against their own best interests.
It's like a virulent disease that's running unchecked throughout the body politic like a normal thing, as people on both the left and the right are pretty much blind to both its existence and its consequences.
It's drowning us, as Mark Crispin Miller once remarked.
Until we wake up and reject it totally AND do the opposite of everything that it stands for, we're hosed
Anybody know who is Mike Krispies Miller is, or was?

1. More people in positions of authority will need to challenge them...
They have to be called on their bullshit, over and over again. They have gotten away with it for so long, the entire population needs to be de-programmed.

3. Programming is exactly right
Like the Tea Party. These are people who were brainwashed to REACT, not think about what they were doing.
And they didn't even notice it.

2. My fear is that what they are doing will become the norm.
People who remember jobs and dignity will begin to die out, and the younger people will not recognize the propaganda. For them it will be the norm.

10. Oh how right you are. We are dying out. This country no longer resembles the one in which I grew up. You may not believe it but at one time there were 2 political parties that worked together. I do not know if it will ever work again. There is the Republican party that wants to be a dictatorship, then there are some Democrats that will not fight for us. The people who got away with murder and starting wars will never be called to task. I hold the Democrats responsible for that. We were robbed of everything good and no one is paying a price for the theft.

26. Ditto to all you said
RW loudmouths and dim bulbs like Sarah Palin would have been laughed at and given not a shred of credibility back then.
But now, they're getting seemingly endless press coverage and viewed as legitimate contenders.

4. I blame a lack of critical thinking skills in a majority of the population. The propaganda is effective because people are unable to logically work through it's message.

8. Carefully structured and frequently used propaganda.
Can trump critical thinking skills ant any given time.
It's no accident that jingoism works very well and a key component.
Waving flags and condemning anti-wingerism as foreign borne gets good solid citizens to pay close attention.
Great propaganda is designed to get people to not think and merely get them to react to proper stimuli instead.
And so on it goes. One wonders what makes the Dorkio primitive think he knows what he's talking about.

MEMORANDUM
ATTN: DUmmies
FROM: Tea Party Intellectuals
RE: Your Brains
It has come to our attention that you have all lost your minds. Democrats have been in charge of this country since January of 2007 and they have made a huge mess. People who have worked their entire lives, have saved money, and have prepared for their futures are being put at risk because of the actions of Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and the rest of the liberals in congress. Add Obama as president in January 2009 to the big hole the aforementioned idiots have dug, and our country has gone down in flames.
Those who work and produce are now expected to not only take care of themselves and their families, they are being forced to take care of your lazy asses and all of the children you have without concern about how much children cost.
There is no one to blame but yourselves. The media loves Obama and openly pushes for liberal policies.
You are all loony tunes. Seek help - quickly - at your own expense. We cannot provide for you any longer.

Mike, is Mrs. Rice's little boy. :whistling:
Since when do primatives need to know what they're talking about.
They open the pie-hole and something comes out.
The pie-hole is often confused with the "other" hole, as much the same spews from both.

I blame a lack of critical thinking skills in a majority of the population.
If that is the answer to your imagined plight, then perhaps you can explain who, pray tell, has been in control of the education system in this country for decades?
-
Sorry but my own best interest isn't taking handouts from the government, dependent on them and beholden to their rules. The problem with you guys is that you think everyone needs to think like you. This from the people that supposedly believe in diversity. You managed to put blacks back on the plantation, in the city this time. Generations are now wholly dependent on largess of their government overlords. You've broken their spirit, making them believe they can't live without your control of nearly every part of their lives. This might even be worse than a physical whipping. At least the whipping ends. Now you're trying to do this with Hispanics. I don't want to end up like that, with big brother deciding how I should live my life. You should be ashamed, but you're too selfish for that.

Exactly, they simply do not understand that once the govt takes care of all your needs, you are basically a slave to the govt.
Under liberalism there are 2 types of slaves, the first is the people who produce the wealth that is taken by gun point in order to hand over to the second type of slaves, the people who receive the wealth taken from the working slaves.
They bitch and moan about insurance companies deciding if their health care gets approved or not, yet are begging the govt to be the ones who decide whether you get a hip replacement or a pain pill. I suppose the idea if everyone is forced to take pain pills instead of getting surgeries that everyone will be miserable, but hey at least it is fair.

The fact that you idiots think that in a country of 300 + million a beneficial government will cater to your individual wishes proves how stupid you are.
Collectivism has always reduced the masses to the lowest form of existence because it has to for any hopes of surviving.

It's because the primitives have a, uh, rather distorted notion about the extent of the national wealth.
Primitives seem to think if the wealth were divided up equally, everybody would get $100,000,000 each, or something like that.
When in stark fact, if the real national wealth were divided up equally, there's lots of primitives who would have to give up stuff. Anybody else can have the Bostonian Drunkard's trust-fund money; franksolich wants Pedro Picasso's second home in Connecticut.
-
This whole "people voting against their own best interest," which automatically insinuates that the self-appointed liberal intelligensia know better what one needs than themself, is way past being old.
Lamond, you barely know what you want, much less what you need, and even less so what someone else needs. I'm more intelligent than you can ever hope to be, so whenever you have these simpleminded thoughts, learn to keep them to yourself so you look less stupid, 'K?

This isn't the only problem.
Sure, most people would have more money if it was all redistributed, for a little while. But once that happens there's no incentive to work. Work hard, save up, and your money gets taken away and given to someone who didn't work. Might as well enjoy yourself instead. And if everyone (or even just a lot of people) start doing that then no wealth is being created and next time it gets redistribued there is a lot less to go around.

Uh huh. Of course.
But I'm looking at it from the perspective of a primitive, this redistributing the wealth.
Primitives don't have the cerebral capacity to get past this first thing into yours, sir.

It's one thing to willingly be a slave to the government like the DUmmies, but the government is doing everything possible to make those of us who understand what being a slave to the government really means, slaves as well.
And that's what being a conservative is all about. The DUmmies will never understand that concept. To me, it proves just how truly weak the liberal mind is.

I'm willing to bet CC has a lower unemployment rate compared to DU.

I'd bet we have more folks here, like me, who work jobs that we don't like while we try to find something better too. Unlike at DU where they are too good to do hard jobs for low pay.

franksolich wants Pedro Picasso's second home in Connecticut.
I can't imagine that anyone so fortunate as to live in the wide open spaces of one of the most civilized places on earth would want to relocate into a seething, congested, crime-ridden hellhole like Connecticut.
And while the home (financed by Pedro's wife) might be a nice one, I doubt anyone would want his job security as the third-rated cartoon boy on a staff of three, nor the humiliation he lives with in relying on his wife's income to feed and clothe his children.
Nope, there's nothing Pedro Picasso has, or ever will have, that I'd be interested in owning, unless I could immediately sell it and pocket the proceeds.

Investment property.
It's, uh, pretty obvious that the wealth-disparity between Pedro Picasso and franksolich is almost unbridgeable (even if one takes out Mrs. Pedro's share of theirs), and some prime rural lakefront property in Connecticut might close that gap a little bit.
By the way, GOBUCKS, sir, I'm gone for the next three days--an outing out into the outermost western limits of the Sandhills of Nebraska, clear over on the other side of the state--and if the primitives call out franksolich during then, and my fellow alum Skins's isn't aware of it and the moderators are stoned and so it doesn't get deleted, could you do the honors of replying for me?
Be especially alert that lately, it's been unterprimitiven, used by tools of primitives of prominence, to do the calling-out.

If you're on the far western edge of Nebraska, you'll be near Colorado. We haven't heard from the DUmp's chief homeless wino lately, and the temperature has been soaring. If you should spot a large 1986 Buick sedan parked at a rest stop or near a business advertising free wi-fi, and notice bodily fluids leaking from around the door gaskets, well...just go on about your business. There's nothing you could do, and no one really cares anyway.

That would be a very safe bet.
I like my money where it's at.
Well, DUmmies?

I want to take part in this bet, too. I suggest bonus points be awarded if you are for working for the man, AND running something outside of that, or working a second job.

Hear this all the time. TRANSLATION: The left is comprised of greedy lazy pigs that are only interested in filling their own bellies. That's all it is and all it will ever be. This perplexes lefties to no end as they can't possibly understand why we don't want to join them at the trough.
Major difference between conservatives and marxist layabouts? We want what is in the Nation's Best Interest.

Found this on Wikipedia:
Mark Crispin Miller is professor of media studies at New York University, and the author of the book: Fooled Again, How the Right Stole the 2004 Elections. He is known for his writing on American media and for his activism on behalf of democratic media reform. His books include Boxed In: The Culture of TV, Seeing Through Movies, and Mad Scientists, a study of war propaganda.
He graduated from Northwestern University with a BA in 1971, Johns Hopkins University with an MA in 1973, and a Ph.D. in 1977.
Miller writes in his book, Fooled Again, that the 2000 U.S. Presidential election and 2004 U.S. Presidential election were stolen. Miller presents extensive documentation, backed by 56 pages of notes, supporting his contention that the outcome of both elections was altered and controlled by a small minority. He states that the American voting populace can no longer assume that their votes will be accurately assessed, and that the installation of electronic voting machines in state after state is a fundamental flaw in the U.S. electoral system. He appeared in the 2004 documentary Orwell Rolls in His Grave, which focuses on the hidden mechanics of the media, its role as it should be and what it actually is, and how it shapes (to the point of almost controlling) U.S. politics.
He is a signatory to the 9/11 Truth Statement.
His latest book, Loser Take All: Election Fraud and the Subversion of Democracy 2000-2008, covers U.S. election fraud and its acceptance in those years.
In other words, he's a DUmmie.

getting too many Americans to work against their own best interests.
That's what I thought when I read Dorkio's statement. "Why can't they all join us in begging for freeeeee stuff? What's wrong with them?"
H5 to Delilah for posting what I was thinking. :-)
