WASHINGTON — Rep. Anthony Weiner is asking for a temporary leave of absence from the House of Representatives while he seeks professional treatment in the wake of his Twitter scandal.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and two other leaders of the Democratic Party on Saturday called on Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) to resign, shattering any semblance of party support for the embattled congressman, who is requesting a "leave of absence" from the House.

The website describes the process for a leave of absence this way:
If a Member is absent and misses votes for a substantial period of time, the Member or his staff may request a Leave of Absence from the House. Upon request, the Cloakroom staff will complete a Leave of Absence form which states the dates of the Member’s absence and the reason for his/her absence. The form is signed by the Republican Leader and laid before the House at the conclusion of legislative business for the day.
Decades ago, an absent Member was fined by the House. That is no longer the case. But a Leave of Absence is printed in the Congressional Record and announces the reason for one’s absence. Members may choose reasons that are general, such as ‘official business’ or ‘illness,’ or something more specific such as ‘having my appendix removed’ or “inspecting damage in the district from Hurricane Katrina.’ Members may not use political reasons for an absence. Members may choose not to request a Leave of Absence if he/she believes it would draw unnecessary attention to his/her absence.

My guess is that he'll rehabilitate his "image" out of sight, come back as a strong advocate of woman issues and be viewed as a "courageous" individual who over came his affliction. Anyone who wants to question him about it will be told to move on, it is in the past and that the "event" was a private matter between him and his wife. Libs will then say why bring this up when he has a young family?. Have you no heart or values?
Remember, lying is a badge of Honor to Dems.

Weiner's criminal acts, if convicted in a court of law, would warrant inclusion on New York's sex offender registry. While it doesn't sound like much, sending your private parts to a minor is considered a PREDATORY crime. In fact, anyone who did NOT solicit or accept such a picture can actually file charges.
The level three designation comes from the 17-year old girl's receipt of the junk. This could probably be reduced to a Level 2, but with additional charges and convictions from other sources, the NY Attorney General's office would be hard pressed not to make Weiner Level 3.
I actually don't agree that people like Weiner should be on the registry for the most part, just highly monitored by police (my wife is a compliance tech in California, so I sometimes go on her runs). But existing laws prevail, and Weiner could be looking at something far more serious that being laughed out of Congress.
(Ironically, it is the law that he championed that may be his undoing. He sponsored the KIDS act, designed to keep sex offenders off the Internet. Strange that his GOP counterpart, Mark Foley, sponsored the AWA act, and he was kicked out of congress for sex emails with underaged staff.)

I saw the pictures of his dally- whacker that he is so proud of, first thought was , does he shave his parts of hair to make [ it ] look bigger????
Second thought is his fans want to compare his actions by pointing out numerous other Politicians caught in a sex scandal. Aside from the Edwards sex tape that we have not seen YET but will most likely find it's way to the internet eventually, this is the first time in history that the people of America have gotten an eye full of their Representatives Pee-Pee.
Third thought, what kind of kick does Wiener get from photographing his privates to strange woman ???? This is much like a high tech flasher, not someone who stands on the street wearing a rain coat waiting for old Lady's to walk by.
One thing comes to mind is the forbidden acts in society, he must get a kick out of breaking all the rules.
Not to speak out against his wife in any way but for a prominent man to who is a Jew to marry a devote Muslim is most strange. Even stranger then that is why a devote Muslim would marry HIM is a mind bender. Most interesting that they were married by a Christian-------really gets weird here folks.

When Weiner (D-Queens, Brooklyn) was photographed by the Daily News fleeing the Capitol in his Nissan Pathfinder, it was clear the July 2007 registration sticker in his window was expired, and there was no inspection sticker to be seen. Weiner, through a staffer, said the 1988 Nissan Pathfinder was registered in New York State.
Not so, said the state Department of Motor Vehicles.
The New York license plate bolted on Weiner's Pathfinder - US Congress 9 - had expired as of 2006, according to the DMV.
"That license plate should not be on a car," a DMV spokeswoman said. It wasn't even issued to the Pathfinder, but to another one of Weiner's cars, a Honda, according to vehicle records.

Interesting, this guy is just a jerk who thinks he's entitled and doesn't have to follow the same rules as anyone else. I guess if nothing else happens, they can sure slap him with a huge fine. It's time he has to follow the same rules as everyone else. Can you imagine how much it would cost us to be caught not only with plates expired since 2006, but plates not even on the right car? :censored:
