Many a times my birds make me wonder

if we humans have way too much hubris... and cannot see what is in front of us? I mean about real animal intelligence and yes feelings.

Last year our Tuky passed... yes it hurt, but we saw real grief in the conures, especially cooky.

Well today, while I was making reservations to go to my dad's funeral my husband explained this to the birds... so he told them my dad died... and then told them like when Tuky died. Both parrots lowered their heads... and were much quieter after that.

Yes it could be my bias... but SCIENTIFIC research has documented grieving like behavior in crows and other bird species.

As I said, as we go around ... yes destroying their world... these animals are far more intelligent than we give them credit for.

Just an observation from the notebooks of life...

Here for an example of this from Cornell

Birds probably though he was saying if they don't pipe down he'd see they met the same fate as Tuky.

I think they're parrots.  I could be wrong.

On just about a daily basis we have birds that fly head first right into our west-facing windows.  I wonder what Nadin would say they are trying to tell me?

 :lmao:

13. Well said

Cookie, well we showed them Tuky's body...

They crouched so low, especially Cooks, his mate... and he made really low frequency sounds. Some I could hear, some I could not. The bird, I am betting, was crying.

This year on the anniversary I showed him a photo of his pal... he did the same behavior... but then... he is mostly a rescue and more or less has adopted me, but is not cozy... came over and just sat there with me, quietly, for over two hours.

It was a special moment...

Today Connie was the sweetest, especially after his dad explained that to them. She likes to snuggle, I could literally not put her down without her coming over and insisting on cozying up with me

Because birds absolutely understand the abstract, and can grasp what "dad" means to Nadin.

Huh?  How does that work?

Geez, for some reason I fear an episodic rendition of another "Blackie, the arm perching rooster spirit" coming on.

I know I'm new here, but I gotta ask; What is wrong with these people?

They're "progressives" and, by very nature, nucking futs.

Thanks for clearing that up for me, Reb.

I was beginning to suspect they had all been dropped on their heads during their infancy, repeatedly.

That's certainly a possibility as well.

Blackie leads the souls of McNuggets to the afterlife while crowing for truth, justice, and honey-mustard dipping sauce.

See? First her joints and now her sanity. She shouldn't have risked Hawaii, the radiation exposure sure is tearing ole Nads apart.  :argh:
