Title: Romney draws early fire from conservatives over views on climate change
Post by: pissant on June 08, 2011, 11:06:51 PM
It seemed like a straightforward question on a second-tier issue: Would Mitt Romney disavow the science behind global warming?

The putative Republican presidential front-runner, eager to prove his conservative bona fides, could easily have said what he knew many in his party’s base wanted to hear.

(snip)

So far, Romney’s reviews from the right are not positive. His views about climate change in particular put him at odds with many in his party’s base.

Well, the beauty of Romney adhering to his RINO ways is that it becomes crystal clear that this guy cannot be the Republican candidate.

If he's duped so easily on this matter, what else is he clueless about?

Besides health care, of course.  :whatever:

"No Apology" my ass.

Mitt, take your "Olympic Savior" ass out of the political arena. You're a  :loser:

Romney just needs to go away, but I fear that the GOP will indeed nominate another weak assed Rino next year.

Mitt shot himself in the foot and should withdraw.

This is exactly the sort of candidate the GOP elites want. And ... they will get, if they and the media can manipulate it that way.

Apparently, voters are too stupid to know whats best as far as they and their pals across the aisle are concerned.

I am afraid you are correct. It will be Romney against a Tea Party candidate (Bachman, Palin, Cain, etc). The eastern establishment party elites and media types like Rove, Krawhammer, Wills, etc will suck up to Romney the RINO. I think McCain has more conservative values than this asshole.

You would think that they would learn after McCain. We don't need another RINO, but a strong conservative.

I'm so sick of elitists. Not a rat's ass bit of difference between them regardless of the letter they put behind their name. I do hope we learned our lesson about voting for elitist RINO hacks just because other elitist RINO hacks have decided it was "his" turn. I saw Herman Cain on Glenn Beck last night and while I'm a die-hard Palin fan I was very impressed with him. He's sharp and absolutely in tune with the country.

Which is precisely the reason that the DC Beltway doesn't like him.  DC is completely out of  touch with mainstream America.

Obamacare is basically a copy of the healthcare system he put in place in Massachusetts.  Romney's a progressive liberal, If he gets the nomination I'm voting constitution party.

Your boy Romney is the one that will get destroyed in the upcoming election. What wrong with the GOP is that they have too many gutless wonders in Congress. Plus, elitist mental midgets in the RNC and the media that are RINO's.

And of course, despite all the policy issues with Romney, the MSM will insist that it's all about his religion.  I even heard that weary line at work yesterday.   ::)  Thankfully, I was in a situation where I could bring up at least one actual issue, healthcare.  I've not heard one actual conservative have a problem with his religion...that is 100% an MSM meme.  I guess the only "good" way to cover up the left's inherent bigotry is to try to paint it on the right.   ::)

Most Mormons are much more conservative than Romney, not universally, but his being Mormon was a good point IMO. I'm not Mormon personally, but I agree with most of their values.

<unpopular opinion>I dont see why conservatives would have a problem with him believing in Global Warming. Its a purely scientific issue not a political one.(What we do about it on the other hand...)</unpopular opinion>

He believes in cap and trade which is an economic issue that will cause loss of jobs. The idiots in the northeast have voluntarily bought into this junk science and are currently purchasing carbon credits. Romney is not a conservative; he was the governor of one of the most liberal states in the US. He is one of them. Most conservatives also have a problem with him cause he is a bonafide liar.

Not every scientist agrees that us breathing, cow farts, internal combustion engines and power plant emissions are warming the planet. That does not stop it from being used for cap and trade and an excuse to grow government.

So the back and forth banter between two people of differing opinions during a PRIMARY season when that's what we're supposed to be doing is the problem with the GOP? Well, then let's all just listen to the party elites, shut our mouths and vote in lock step. That's why we have primaries, so we can have these robust conversations. And I'd wager most here consider themselves conservatives before Republicans.

Honestly, did you join this board for conversation and an exchange of ideas or just to stir shit up? I've seen a lot of smarta ss and contempt but very little dialogue. If that's all you want take it to fight club. Otherwise, share your ideas, promote your person(s) and contribute to the conversation. I expect that from a DUmmie not someone claiming to be a Republican. Except for Ed Rollins.

You mean there are Palin fans?

By your reckoning, Palin is a loser that's so far down in the polls she's got to crawl up ladders to get to the sewer.

So you think the GOP should be like the Supreme Soviet? Marching in lock step, with no internal debate and dissent among its members?

No Im saying that the ideas presented are a good microcosm of the problems facing the GOP ATM.
