I went with censured, followed in the future by #4.
-
I'll go with you on the "nothing". After all, what's good for Charlie Rangel is good for Weiner.
And, as I have absolutely no confidence in the voting electorate in and around NYC/Long Island, he'll probably be reelected.
But I ain't willing to bet on it just yet.
-
I'm betting he will resign, later than sooner but he will resign.
I think after more of this drama plays out someone will take Nancy Lugosi aside, remind her of her promise to "drain the swamp that is Washington and let sunshine disinfect the Congress" and spell out to her the gravity of the situation and she will call for his head.
-
Probably wind up as mayor of NYC.

I dunno about that. Bloomberg is not done ****ing over the city of NY, and, by extension, the rest of the Empire State.

Yep. Symbolic slap on the wrist, followed by the Dems lining up to put another scumbag back in the House so they don't lose his seniority.

Well, they must like this sort of thing, or they'd stop electing people like that.

Weiner doesn't have Bloomberg's money.
It ain't got jack shit to do with what they like. It's what they get.
-
He'll get a huge deal for a new porn movie called Alice in Weinerland.
-
i went with Censured, because if he was going to resign or be pressured into resigning, it would have happened already.
-
I dunno. The pressure to resign is growing by leaps and bounds. Tim Kaine, the former head of the DNC basically said that for Wiener to publicly lie like he did should result in his resignation. Other Dems have chimed in too.
The turd could be toast within a day or two.
-
You may prove to be right, Euph, but as of today Anthony Weaseldick was still insisting he wouldn't resign.

I wonder how his donors are bearing-up.
jumped?
pushed?
the difference?

I think it's going to depend on how much Weiner's actions are going to affect Hillary, since his wife works for Hillary and every thing I've read or heard on tv, it's also mentioned his wife is one of Hillary's top aides -
I would think Weiner's seriously hoping for a disaster of some sort to get him off the front page. If he can get off the front page, and someone or something else becomes the hot topic for the late night shows, he'll be ok. If not, it's going to depend on how many of the "big" people - the Clintons and their friends - stand on his side.
He's a liar, and really really stupid...but he hasn't physically cheated. From what I've seen online and heard...he hasn't actually met any of these women in person, right? So, he's only amusing himself - so to speak ::) - with online chat...that is semi-pornographic. And likes to send pictures of himself - which I heard on tv today from someone who had seen them - Weiner's weiner is - um- substantial...
Most men - and probably women too - are going to lie when they get busted doing something they shouldn't that involves sex and not the person they are either married to, or in a committed relationship. Regardless of what their profession may be. Politicians are no different, they are just more public than anyone else other than an actor...so anyone and everyone with access to a tv or internet, finds out about it.
Weiner's no different when it comes to getting caught and then lying about it. I don't know why people are so shocked. Most people, however, who get caught like this...are able work it out, or not work it out, with their spouse privately, either just between the two of them, or with a counselor or priest/minister. Not only is Weiner a public figure, but so is his wife.
Weiner is just flat out stupid. If I was one of his constituents, I think I would be a whole lot more concerned about his lack of common sense, and his extreme stupidity, than whether or not what he did is or is not, considered committing adultery. I certainly wouldn't want someone representing my congressional district, who is not smart enough to realize that posting pics of his parts on a social network, could ever stay private!
On an almost daily, certainly weekly, we are being warned to be careful of what we post online, particularly using social media. Kids are constantly being warned both at school and by their parents at home. It's on tv to be careful. It's even on the social media websites to be careful!
Makes me wonder if he didn't want to get caught.....

That's the thing, deb.
His judgment is at issue here. For a U.S. Congressman to engage in that kind of activity, he could've been talking to any-frickin'-body, and certainly somebody who could've blackmailed him or otherwise extorted favors of one type or another.
I personally don't give a shit who he bangs -- or pounds his pud to over the phone/online.
It's morally bankrupt of him, but we knew that anyway.
No, it's his monumental stupidity and his complete lack of self-control that's at issue here.
-
Funny note:
http://usgovinfo.about.com/od/uscongress/a/congresspay.htm
Members of Congress are not eligible for a pension until they reach the age of 50, but only if they've completed 20 years of service. Members are eligible at any age after completing 25 years of service or after they reach the age of 62. Please also note that Members of Congress have to serve at least 5 years to even receive a pension.
The amount of a congressperson's pension depends on the years of service and the average of the highest 3 years of his or her salary. By law, the starting amount of a Member's retirement annuity may not exceed 80% of his or her final salary.
Also:
The current salary (2011) for rank-and-file members of the House and Senate is $174,000 per year.
Weiner has held office since 1999, so if he leaves office today, in 2028, he starts collecting up to $139,200 per year, for the rest of his life.
Just a happy thought for the evening.

Pelosi and some of others think this requires a congressional committee investigation?
NO IT DOES NOT!
He's stupid. Not a little bit, but a whole lot.
If his constituents are willing to keep him, if his fellow congress critters are willing to keep him, then he stays.
Then ALL of them are stupider than we already thought, and we vote people in, who in the future will take care of stupid without spending 6 months talking about it on the taxpayer dime!
Anyone who leaves Congress under any type of cloud, before serving out their elected term, regardless of how long they held office....does not deserve any type of retirement.

From the New York Post:
Voters stick up for their rep: poll
From Forest Hills to Sheepshead Bay, they're standing by their man.
While Rep. Anthony Weiner remains disgraced in the eyes of the country, 56 percent of voters in his congressional district want him to stay in office.
Only 33 percent say he should resign, a New York 1-Marist poll found.
Even Republicans in his Queens-Brooklyn distorict want him to remain in Congress, by 47-45 percent.
The poll, conducted Wednesday, the day that a naked penis photo surfaced, found 73 percent said Weiner did "something unethical but not illegal."--Andy Soltis
I don't have a link to the story. That's the whole thing.
So, I said that he'll be re-elected. If the Republicans don't use this to beat Dems over the head with, all over the country, they're more stupid than we know, and should be defeated.

This is an absolutely glaring example of how morally bankrupt that part of the country has become. Out here in flyover country, things like "Integrity" and "Personal and Moral Courage" still mean something.
Out on Lungisland? Not so much.
Freakin' asshats.
