Two of my sons are serving their country - Air Force & Marines. Not much respect for Obama in either.

10. More to do with what church they attend I suspect..
Palin's supporters tend to come from among the fundies, I know several and they are fundies, each and every one.
Every bit as destructive of brain function as lead water pipes.

20. Super DITTO.
...sister and brother-in-law in Central Michigan...go to a very small, old school Baptist church...they have had splits and fights and stuff like that...and dozens of preachers...and who do they like, the ones that preach for women to be in "their" place, white people and against Prez O.
From the pulpit? With a Bible in hand?
Nuts...and so full of hate and anger. And being good little members, they do whatever the Chief Brainwasher says to do.
Terrifying.

Just saying - she's appealing to folks from all walks of life.
He is a senior citizen but he says he loves her spunk.

4. What he's really saying is. PLEASE nominate her.
He would never say that she can't win but everyone, including Palin, knows that she can't even get nominated.

26. Enthusiasm Gap Cost Humphrey in 1968
In 1968 Hubert Humphrey made the mistake of thinking there was more support for the Vietnam war than there actually was. As a result he waited nearly till Election Day to come out against the war. It cost him the election, because by then he wasn't enough of an alternative to Nixon.
Think Obama can continue to presume the left has nowhere to go? Democrats have done that before.

60. It's even more than that -- Obama is now so far to the right .... Updated at 3:11 AM
have turned his campaign pledges upside down --
and being in such sync with corporates/Wall St and out of sync with public --
that unless they begin to see another option on the Dem ticket, they
may begin to think of tossing the election up in the air to get rid of Obama.
I've always thought that was a really dumb way to go, but it could happen.
Do they really believe this?

109. Speech?
Edited on Sat Jun-04-11 11:03 PM by sendero
THAT IS OBAMA'S PROBLEM - SPEECH IS THE ONLY THING HE DOES WELL.
When people are struggling to feed themselves and stay in their homes SPEECH is worth a bucket of warm spit.
Obama has VERY LITTLE TIME to DO SOMETHING, and I for one don't think it is in him.

47. IMO this has been the dems problem for a long time. "Framing the message and
staying on point." Dem messaging often stinks and many opportunities are often missed by dems. Phraseology needs to be clever, short, succinct and at about a 4th grade level, and repeated over and over again.
Bush, for example, was a master IMO at short stupid phrases, but they stuck. The dems also need to stick together with coherent messaging and the same talking points rather than sounding like a bunch of splinter groups. If not, they confuse voters, positions are easily attacked and voters wonder WTF. A good example of dems lousy messaging was the healthcare mess IMO.
So it's not high unemployment? the falling dollar? the trillions in spending? It's just the message that isn't being framed right?

Soapbox is a liar. Why would fundies that preach that women should be in their place support a woman for the highest office in the land?

I thought Soapbox might be a mole, aside from using the left's talking points about the right he say Super DITTO, a play on words that Rush listeners use when they call him and say Mega DITTO. And your point totally knocks down all their arguments on fundamentalists feeling a woman's place is in the home, if they felt like that why is Bachman and Palin getting their support?

Do not confuse the DUmmie with logic. He was making a very important point, namely that he doesn't know a lick of what he's talking about.
Tomorrow he's going to tell us about those racist bigots who want to elect Cain.

Hey, I thought it was funny and appropriate for the DUmmies
....and this thread.
WARNING...some will probably find it racist. If you're sensitive don't click.

Oh, I dunno.
In 1968 Hubert Humphrey made the mistake of thinking there was more support for the Vietnam war than there actually was. As a result he waited nearly till Election Day to come out against the war. It cost him the election, because by then he wasn't enough of an alternative to Nixon.
Public polls taken as late as 1971, when the draw-down began (I think), showed that only 24% of Americans wanted us to cut and run in Vietnam.
That didn't indicate the other 76% were in favor of pursuing the war; only that they didn't want us to cut and run.
It's in the history books.....and in old copies of the weekly newsmagazines from the time.
I get really vexed when the primitives try to re-invent history.

I prefer not to attribute cunning prevarications to someone whose position is just as easy to ascribe to arrogant stupidity.
Howie was of course just trying to terrorize his base into supporting Obama. As far as Palin support goes, though, I wouldn't say there is a big religious component to it around here, it's more reliant on the Libertarian Conservatives who don't see anyone else having a position on RKBA and/or that, like has been said in several posts, they just like her gutsiness.
The MSM and the GOP ruling class have invested a lot into the meme of her 'Unelectability,' but frankly while Obama has been getting in deeper and deeper over his head promoting social change and hyper-regulation to the detriment of the economy and national security, she has been looking stronger and stronger every week, totally uncowed by the pronunciations of ruling class water-bearers like Krauthammer.
Unelectable? I'm not so sure.

This primitive would have to prove that McCarthy or Kennedy had enough anti-war votes to carry the day, which it can't. The Dems were split, and Wallace being in the mix and taking the votes of the traditional Dems would have had the same effect it did regardless of the candidate.

The history of the Viet Nam war is a really tragic example of how leftist academics can distort the perception of succeeding generations. Combined with a uniformly leftist press, they have given young people of today the idea that Americans never supported the effort against Communism, and that it was a misguided policy. I personally knew not one person who wanted the United States to scram from Viet Nam. Not one. No one likes war, but outside of left-wing academia, Communist-front organizations, and the tiny number of dirty hippies, support for American action in Southeast Asia was nearly universal, at least in my experience. Nixon did not win on an anti-war platform. He won by saying that after four or five years of bloody conflict, he had a plan for victory.

The longer the kabuki theater that is our government stars Barack Hussein Obama, the worse it becomes for our country. Also, the more the Obamessiah ****s things up, the further the political pendulum will have to swing back to the Right, to repair the damage. Palin is the darling of the Right. She becomes a better and better remedy every day.

Truth and reality do not need to be framed...you have pointed out what your problem is and don`t even know it.
