The American makers of the Candwich, a sandwich in a can which can be dispensed by vending machines and is opened like a can of Coke, say it's the best thing since sliced bread.
The Candwich, which has a shelf life of a year, has just gone on sale in the US and online, selling for £7 for a four-pack or £44 for 24.
Twelve flavours are planned, including US-style peanut butter and grape jelly, BBQ chicken and pepperoni pizza.
The peanut butter version requires diners to spread sachets of the filling on to the bread but the rest have the fillings baked inside, like a pasty.

Yummo! :sarcasm:

this is the kinda stuff that gives "hardtack" a good name. :p
-
Stupid. As if you need someone else's culinary expertise to make a PBJ. And, you even have to do the work? What are you paying for exactly?

It's enough to gag a maggot.

It might be something to consider putting in an emergency kit, nothing more.

Hardtack is good :)

For slightly more money, one could get some MREs and have full meals that would have a shelf life of years. This thing is worthless
-
You mean like the 2 cases of MRE's I've got?
But to be fair, I kinda like the frozen ones once in a blue moon.

Only if one is blessed with teeth like yours, commy.

A sandwich that will keep in a can for a year?
I don't even want to try it.... or imagine the kind or amount of preservatives involved. :o :o :o

Preservatives, or radiation?

Twinkies, my dear--remember how long they're supposed to last?

I'll stick with radiation myself.

Not a fan of those things either...

In over a third of a century of military service, I certainly ate stranger things, and even some similar things, but the price point on those seems pretty scandalous.

I forgot about those MRE's. I don't recall unpacking them after our move from St Louis. I guess the nasty old man who bought the house is enjoying them. (He made me move a fence at a cost of $1k even though the homeowner's association said they would give him a waiver and let him keep the fence on the preserve area.
No MRE's for him---gotta look out in the garage and see if there are still unpacked boxes.

MREs have gone up in price lately.

Twinkies last forever don't they?

Twinkies last forever don't they?
Anything with fats in it eventually goes 'Off.' It may or may not still be edible long after the the fats start to break down, though, and some of them are more stable than others.

25 days. That's the shelf life of a Twinkie.

Twinkies do, in fact, have a shelf life
LANDON HALL The Orange County Register
Twinkies do, in fact, have a shelf life — 25 days, to be precise, according to Hostess Foods. It only seems like the yellow sponge cake injected with vanilla cream filling lasts forever. Maybe because it’s been around as long as anyone can remember.
