It is a great program!
Even tho they did not get officially deployed, a group of guys are going to Joplin to help. It is now a search and recovery not a search and rescue but the help is needed.
My DH and brother and nephew are going this afternoon to help today and tomorrow to offer any services needed. The Avalanche is loaded with water and sandwiches enough to feed hundreds and they are ready to do what is needed.
This is the way America takes care of its own. There is much to be done, but Joplin will come back stronger than ever.

4. The POINT I was making was
real people are helping
repukes are having bus tours
Interesting... however
http://www.samaritanspurse.org/
A group from our church and other local churches just got back from Joplin last night after spending 4 days helping with clean-up around the fringes of the Joplin disaster. Most took their own implements - chain saws, rakes, etc. - they spent their days cutting up the downed trees around and on houses, stacking the wood, and raking up all sort of debris. There are hundreds of helpers showing up at the Samaritan's Purse every morning to be placed on teams.
Another group from our church hauled over a truckload of necessities, toilet paper, paper towels, wipes, toiletries, etc. in coordination with an International Christian disaster reponse organization, he didn't name the exact one.
Note, they've already been and come back... but are going again.
http://www.namb.net/dr/
Of course, most of these groups are still helping in Japan, many are still helping in Haiti, and all are still helping in Alabama. It's what Christians do...
-
Local self-employed people here have been to just about every big disaster I know of since hurricane Hugo in 1989. Some church members from all churches are out there along with our local red cross crew....and I know most of them personally and they are mostly republicans.
-
Who are they kidding! None of the DUmp monkeys are going anywhere!
-
Tuscaloosa, AL hit very hard by our tornado, received assistance from Joplin. In todays local paper here, Tuscaloosa has sent aid and workers to Joplin - could it be helping each other? Guess thats the Christian way....
Where is Rev. Jessie Jackson? Guess there's not enough 'face time' on TV, when work needs to be done, what say you "Rev"? ...............
-
It seems to me, and I could be wrong, that when normal, everyday conservatives help people they simply help them because it's the right thing to do. They really don't toot their own horns much.
Now I suppose that there is a chance that some of those helping would have made an announcement of their intention to help on DU but the fact that you guys don't allow normal, everyday people (much less normal, everyday conservatives) to post probably prevented it.

so are you volunteering because you truly want to help people in need, or because you want to post online that you are helping and the "repukes" aren't?
And how do you know the "repukes" aren't volunteering? Do all volunteers have to register, state their political affiliation and wear an article of clothing that designates said political affiliation?

Where was Obama while Joplin was hurting?

3. I think it is a little unfair to frame this as a partisan issue.
As far as I know, CERT has volunteers of all types. At times like these, political differences tend to matter less, at least for a while. After all, the tornadoes didn't ask about party affiliation before destroying someone's home. However, I would find it interesting if, after this is all over, someone does a study on which side (progressive or conservative) donates more time and money to the cause.

BattleHymn, I think the chromosomally-challenged primitive was referring to Sarah Palin.
To reinforce your point, Bally, . . . the chromosomally-challenged primitive needs to learn the difference between the leader of the ****ing country and a private citizen.
That is the difference, "Ms." Dawson, you ****ing idiot.

Ah, you see, I thought we were keeping this on the topic of Joplin, no somebody who nobody cares about (DUmp logic on Palin). On that note, the only bus tour I've heard about going into Joplin would be the Westboro bunch, who also happen to be Democrats.

People related to Pam are going to help while she posts about it on the internet...instead of helping, interesting.

She's trying to work up enough energy to send some healing white light.

Or, alternately, a picture of her hands.

The "Repukes" are the ones you're memorializing, you pieces of shit. The military does a DAMN good job at creating conservatives.
-
BTW, you lurking retarded chimps, we have 1,363 members here. You supposedly have OVER 100K.
Care to compare our military vets/active duty/retirees with DU? You "supposedly" have over 100 THOUSAND members, but VERY few claim military service. Here, I think MOST claim military service. So, wanna play? Let's play.

BSS, what is this in reference to? I tried searching here, and the DUmp via Google, and I must not be searching the right terms or something.

in the open for all to see because President Obama was having tea with the Queen, and don't think the Pubs won't make that point.

IIRC, sending pictures of hands was a sad excuse for a show of support at the DUmp. Maybe someone else can help me out here . . .
-
So she's lecturing about others not getting involved even though it appears she's just reporting on a group of guys going, but not going herself? Figures.

Yes! "Sending healing white light "and 'Pictures of hands" were what the spiritual/hippie dummies used to do instead of actually helping people! Don't forget "Blackie the ghost chicken" as well! UGP told us he had special healing powers! :-)
-
I thought the "send pictures of our hands" came after the 2004 earthquake/tsunami or it could have been another anti-Iraq "protest". I tried to find the thread through DUmmie FUnnies and DU but had no luck.

Speaking of UGP, whatever happened to her? What a messed up chick...

She had her breasts removed and became a "gay man". I think she beat Chaz Bono.

I'm beginning to think that the cat really DID grow opposeable thumbs, learned to use the Glock, and blew its brains out.

Sorry Pammy I was up in central Virginia helping those people that your dear president refused to help. We got tornadoes here as well. Of course I actually went rather than bragging about someone else doing it.

Kudos to you for that as well. Funny how he also never showed shit bit of concern when that tornado ripped through the switchyard of a nuclear power plant (Surry) but if it had been through a windfarm, he'd be fellating the Chinese to make as many wind turbines as possible to get that POS plant back up and running.
Oh, and for the record, kids--Surry was back online in 4 DAYS.

If you need a hint about Pam Dawson's charitable inclination, or whether she's once again lying through her teeth, recall what happened when one of her own family members suffered a house fire that left them with nothing but the clothes on their backs, no insurance, no nothing.
She bragged that she and the skinhead paid for a motel room for one night. And this was during the Bush Prosperity, when Pam was bragging about her cruises, her counterfeit Coach purse, and the skinhead's Glock. One motel room, one night, for a destitute blood relative. Plugs Biden is more charitable.

Where are the Republicans?
http://www.joplinglobe.com/campaigns_and_politics/x212163597/Newton-County-final-results
Maybe that's why they're pulling together and helping one another out instead of waiting for the Damn government to step in and help. .....which Obama JUST visited after partying his ass off in Europe. I mean, damn, Obamanero couldn't get a trip to Italy in the mix?
-
I am still waiting to see what you did to help those people Pammy. Besides sitting on your ample backside begging for attention on DU. ::)

She looks like the biggest retard. What is this post? Who over the age of 14 says "Whatever" in reply to a challenge? They wonder why unionized public teaching is under national attack. As well it should be.
She says "Repuke" alot. I wonder if she has some students with Republican parents? I'm sure she does, and I'll bet she treats those kids like shit, too.
-
I was going to answer Pamula this morning before work but ran out of time.
She inquired as to the location of Repukes, AKA Fundies AKA Conservatives during the time of need in Joplin Mo. Her male members were all planning on going on by for the weekend.
Well Pam the answer you seek is quite simple. All the Fundie/Repuke/Conservatives were all already in Joplin and had been there for days and days by the time your motley crew dragged themselves into town to partake of some freebies these hard working people had already had set up for many days.
That's where they were. Now that your curiosity is satisfied you may GFOAD.
-

Wouldn't you like to be the lawyer defending her in the discrimination lawsuit that would beg to be filed over that one? :banghead: ::) :argh:

Well, duh. Pam is a walking chromosomal accident.
And judging from her school, very few of the students have parents who are eligible to vote in the United States, or to even live here.
-
so are you volunteering because you truly want to help people in need, or because you want to post online that you are helping and the "repukes" aren't?
Ironically enough, she did not say SHE was actually volunteering.
:rotf:

I remember that house fire incident. What you failed to mention, GOBUCKS, is that she also paid for a one-topping pizza for the victims. She's a living saint, I tell you.

We probably have more bona fide war veterans just among our female membership than they have in their entire 100K+.

I think you're probably wrong on that one. Way over half of that imaginary 100K are tombstoned freepers. Lots of them are veterans.
