Title: Curious Question - are you friends with any racists ?
Post by: miskie on May 27, 2011, 01:59:11 PM
The poll is as simple as that - Democrats always assume that to be a Republican or a Conservative is to be a racist. So, lets put it to the test -

- And BTW, when I say racist - I mean RACIST, not the way the primitives fling around the word - are any of you friends with anyone who openly detests people based on their race ? This includes yourself, and any relatives you have a good friendly relationship with. Be honest. If you want to explain your vote, feel free below- I'm not making judgments - I'm just looking for a simple yes or no answer.

- Of course, regardless of result, the primitives will assume that 100% of 'no' votes lied.

You didn't offer the "maybe" option, sir.

I have a lot of friends who consider themselves Democrats and liberals, who've in the past uttered thoughts betraying that they didn't care much for certain sorts of people.

The other friends, the decent and civilized ones, just live, and let live.

I specifically left maybe out - Even though it may rightfully apply to some, I felt it was 'too easy' an answer.

I vote no - the only real racists I know I haven't associated with in years. And though I don't know these people's political leanings - I would put good money on Democrat. These people have (or at least had..) real issues with Cape Verdean Portuguese and Vietnamese.

Yes, of course I am also friends with some dyed-in-the-wool moonbats.  Also Catholics, Pentecostals, and Wiccans.  I have very eclectic associations.

The old hillbillies which drive the basic answer though are just old guys here in the mountains with no use for anything from Black culture, not actual haters of the sort who would actively try to harm anyone who wasn't trying to harm them.

My best friend from high school is a huge racist. I really wasn't aware of it until after we had children and her kids started wanting to be friends with black kids. We had a mutual friend in high school that was black and she gave no hint that she was racists back then. She is a democrat by the way, her dad was in the union (meat packing), he is racist as well.  She is the one I loaned money to two christmas's ago and hasn't spoken to me since. She rarely votes so I doubt she voted in the last presidential election.

My grandma (my dad's mom) is racist but she is the little old lady kind of racist, probably like Obama's grandma's kind of racist.

One of my aunt's and an uncle are racist. My mom got into a fight with my aunt about it recently, I was very proud of my mom for speaking out and not just ignoring it.

My best childhood friend is half white half Mexican and has three black kids. Her dad (Mexican) was strongly against her relationship with black guys, her mom (who was white) wouldn't even recognize that the kids were her grandchildren. It has gotten so much better over the years. Her mother now embraces the kids and her dad has as well. The father of her first two kids was the stereotypical black guy who fathers a ton of kids from different women. Didn't pay child support or was in the kids lives at all. Her first husband (she wasn't married to the first guy) was an ok guy, she had another baby but they divorced because he drank all the time. Then in the last 7 years or so she married another black guy, retired military guy with great kids. They have stayed at our house a few times while visiting family members in Dallas and I can tell that he really loves her. She deserves it because she is one of the best person and mothers I have ever known.

The family of her first two kids were racist. Said nasty comments to her face frequently. They lived in an area they called the "quarters" in Humble Texas. If anyone knows what the "quarters" are like you would know that they had no room to put anyone down. My friend lived in a nice house in a nice area yet they called her white trash (even though she looked more hispanic than white).  I went with her to the "quarters" twice. I feared for my life both times. Her boyfriend's home had dirt floors, I kid you not. Yet these people thought my friend wasn't good enough for their loser son who didn't/doesn't work and gets numerous women pregnant and has yet to support one of them.

I know quite a few but I would not consider them friends. Most of them are black and can't stand white people.

Same here.
If any of my actual friends are racist they have never shown that side to me. They are all honest, hard working folks.

No.

I have no democrat acquaintances. Life is too short to put up with their bullshit. Keeps me out of jail too.

Well, sure, it started at my first cross burning when I was six months old... :whatever:

I know a few people who are but I'm not friends with them.

It's interesting up here because we have significant white, black, native, French and German populations. Of all the groups that experience discrimination the natives are on the top of the list. In general those who participate in any form of discrimination here are either very old, or quite young (teens).

However despite saying all that, this is a good place to live if your a different race or just different in general. A lot of places here are into the arts and attract some very unique people.

And of those who are genuine racists, political belief has nothing to do with it.

I beg your pardon. Politics have everything to do with it.

I should have said that I've not personally found politics has anything to do with it. Those who I know who are racist come from quite different political backgrounds.

I only have my experience on this though...

I have many acquaintences, some of whom may have racist tendencies, but I really don't go into great detail about such matters with casual acquaintances.  The last one that I would say for sure was a neighbor who was 92 when he died last year.  He would often go off on tangents but then he was along in years so I just ignored it.

I have maintained very few close friends over the years.  None of them would come close to being a racist or having a prejudice bone in their body.

I also had an aunt who was a racist.  Discussions with her had their moments but family is family.

Kind of hard to say for sure.  I've heard racial slurs used all the time, but have never seen anyone mistreat any person of color.  One guy at work is married to a woman with two black kids by different fathers, (he divorced his first wife to marry her), and he uses the "N-Word" as much as anyone.  However, I've never heard him say anything but good things about his adopted daughters.

The KKK is not the only racist organization ever. They just happen to be the worst of the bunch in America. Racism existed before there was a KKK, or even a place called "America."

I would never be friends with a racist. I would never be friends with anyone who would judge a person on any standard other than his or her character. And while I'm not a particularly religious man, my judgement of a person's character is based on the teachings and actions of Jesus. I reserve my wrath for those who harm women and children.

No.  Actually, I've never run across anyone of any race that said or did anything that seemed racist.  Of course, I've spent a lot of my life in Kansas and Nebraska...I'm sure we have some racists around here, just not many.  But then, I've never lived in any of our larger cities, where the Democrats tend to congregate.

What do you call the African tribes who hack each other to pieces with machetes? I guess they're Republicans.
And how about the rival factions in the muslim cult who massacre each other at every opportunity? I guess they're Republican, too.
But there's no form of racism worse than disagreeing with the jug-eared Kenyan.

I have another incident, about a year before we moved we were hanging out at a friends playing a game where the spouse had to guess the other spouses answer. The question was who would you have an affair with or who would you want to marry if you weren't with your partner or something like that. I had to say who my husband would have an affair with (Sandra Bullock - I was right) and I wrote down that I wanted Lenny Kravitz.  :-)  My husband didn't guess Lenny but after I said it he remembered my lust for him.

A friend of ours, not really a friend but rather a friend of a friend (who seemed to always be around when we had our couples nights, her husband never says much btw) went friggen crazy. She actually said the N word and said her view of me changed.  She also said she would disown her daughter if any one of them (she has two) married a black man (she didn't use to term black man) and that if one of her kids started wanting to date a black kid while living under their roof they would move.  :mental:  I told her that her comments changed my view of her (I said more than that but that was the general gist of it).  She just stared at me blankly and blinked her eyes and said "SO".

My husband said something about it being time to go home and we left. My good friend called me the next day and said the other chick was drinking blah blah blah and made excuses for her. I said there was no excuse that she could come up with that would change my view of her.   It was never brought back up again. I know that this couple were at a couple other parties we were at after "the incident" but it didn't stop me from being friends with my other friends.  I just ignored her.

She also believes in global warming...not that that means anything. I'm fairly certain she didn't vote for Obama because of the whole racist thing but I have no idea if she is a dem or a republican.

I know quite a few people--I'm pretty friendly, after all--so I would say that I do, but I probably don't know it.  I have quite an ecletic mix of friends, too, ranging from raving lefty moonbats (who I don't associate with much anymore) to ultra right people, and moderates and more center-right people, and people whose political leanings I have no true idea of (neighbors, generally).

I said no, because although I have prejudiced friends, I don't know any of them that are racist.  With that being said, your post reminded me of my brother's sister's brother in law.  He is all of the above and a bag of chips.  He isn't my friend though.
