After reading that I wonder if there are any stats that show when the blacks began to predominantly support the party that wants to keep them bound.

Just guessing, I'd say it was after Martin Luther King switched from Republican to democrat. He was like the Pied Piper.

The Black Rep/Dem divide started to tip in the Democrats favor around the time of Truman when he desegregated the armed forces. At that point it was still pretty divided with Nixon getting about a third of the black vote in his campaign against Kennedy.
What eventually killed the Republicans on this front was when Lyndon B Johnson supported the Civil Rights Act of 64 and his opponent Barry Goldwater opposed it(surprisingly he wasnt a racist in the slightest. He felt it infringed on State rights). No Republican presidential candidate has gotten more than 15% of the black vote since.

Dependent on the Government for survival has to be up there somewhere.

That's the most important part of it. The Democrats will make whoever they can dependent on government handouts, then they can basically just buy votes, for the price of enough food to live till next welfare check and a crack rock.
I'd rather starve than take government handouts.

Where does Goldwater's statement advocating use of nuclear weapons on the Soviets enter into your esteemed analysis? And several other inflammatory comments, like "sawing off the eastern seaboard and letting it float out to sea"?

Those things definitly effected his loss, but Im trying to figure out what exactly made him lose the black vote. After Goldwater whites went back to voting republican, blacks didnt.

Maybe it was the Civil Rights Act of 1964? Something that LBJ got credit for, but it got its start in a speech by Kennedy.
You do realize that Southern Democrats comprised a significant opposition to that bill - they, in combination with one Texas Republican, could have filibustered the bill in the Senate and did so until cloture was finally called?
Republicans saved the Civil Rights Act -- not Dems.
But Johnson got all the credit because he signed it into law......rat bastard that he was.
I find it particularly revealing that after LBJ left office, he proceeded to drink himself to death. A fitting end to a barbarian. But I digress.
