David Spade Donates $200,000 To Help Tornado Victims
May 5th, 2011 8:20am EDT Post a comment Add to My News Funnyman David Spade is getting serious about the tornadoes which devastated parts of the Midwestern and southern states of America last week - he's donating $200,000 to aid the clean-up operation. The Joe Dirt star has handed over the cash to the American Red Cross for disaster relief.
He says, "With the devastating disasters the tornadoes and floods are causing I wanted to help the Red Cross in their efforts to provide help as quickly as possible. I also hope this will help to shine the spotlight on the people of the United States who are in desperate need right now and that others will join me in donating what they can to support the American Red Cross' huge disaster relief effort."
A statement from the Red Cross reads, "The American Red Cross is extremely grateful for this generous support from David Spade who, over the years, has selflessly donated his time, talent, and money to assist those in need."
The organization has revealed Spade, who is an American Red Cross National Cabinet member, donated $50,000 to disaster relief efforts in Kentucky and Tennessee last July.

In December 2008, Spade donated $100,000 to the police department in his former hometown of Phoenix, Arizona, as part of a program designed to provide patrol officers with rifles. Spade's contribution will buy 50 AR-15 semi-automatic rifles for Phoenix police officers.

Spade is a class act.
He also donated money to a Phoenix police officer who was shot and killed by an illegal immigrant back in 2007 or early 2008. I cannot remember the officer's name, but David Spade stepped up to the plate and donated a nice chunk of money to the family. I believe the officer's wife had just given birth to their baby girl.
