Someone else's daughter
My daughter has a friend. This friend was adopted at a young age by her stepfather and started being rebellious at around age 16. Her parents spoiled her horribly--to the point of ruining her. Late model cars, expensive horses, money in her pocket...with no responsibilities attached.
She has expectations that everyone is here to serve HER. I am not even sure she knows what "Thank you" means.
When she was 18--they kicked her to the curb because her attitude was so horrible. To be fair, it was just as horrible when she was 12--but they encouraged it at that point.
We live in a very small town. It is pretty difficult for a kid to get in trouble here--even if they want to because everyone knows everyone else and frankly, will tell your parents on you.
This girl has been staying with us on and off for the last couple of years. We've really tried to help her. When we get her on the right track, her parents take her back with open arms, buy her cars and give her money and then she will move back in. Then, when she screws up again, they take everything away and they kick her out and back she comes, does well, goes back, etc.
Well, this time when her parents kicked her out, she didn't come back here. She went to a club in Houston and met a guy who was going to help her out. He went out and bought her some less-than-respectable clothes, and told her she could chill at his place and then he would help her make some money.
Now, I know what this means. Or at least I have a pretty good idea of what HE has in mind.
This girl is spoiled and is definitely her own worst enemy...but she is NOT worldly at all.
My daughter is beside herself about this situation. She knows what this girl is getting herself off into. I had to sit her down and explain to her that it isn't HER responsibility to save this girl.
She isn't responsible. I also told her that her parents should understand that when you keep throwing your kid to the wolves...sooner or later, the wolves will find them.
I have contemplated telling her parents about what is going on, but the last time I did, they got pissed and told me to mind my own business. I truly fear for this girl's safety. I don't know what to do.
Sounds just like her daughter. A worthless deadbeat.

2. You are a good person in a tough spot.
Like you,I think she's probably been "befriended" by a pimp.
Take her mom aside, and in all confidentiality tell her the facts. She may already know.
Houston Rescue and Restore may be able to help her.too

7. Thank you Beth.
This kid is NOT a likeable kid. I know it is easy to look the other way and as much as I really don't want to be involved in this, the sad truth is that just by knowing about it, I AM involved.
My daughter's problem is that she has my empathy. With her stable of "friends", I think she might also be co-dependent. She wants to fix everyone. I keep telling her that you can't fix people who don't want to be fixed.
I REALLY think her parents need to know--and I will tell you, her stepdad (while upstanding in the community) is a less-than-savory character and has a reputation around town for "taking care of things". I think that is why this girl has no fears. But she has bit off more than she can chew in a town where folks don't know her Daddy. I guess I'm going to have to go up the hill to her parents and let them know. :(

10. Emotionally she is about 15
Legally she is almost 20. They are still our kids--no matter how old they get.
She has NEVER taken care of herself. Not one day in her life. I don't consider her an adult at all.
If she's emotionally 15, she's emotionally older than the horse's ass or her daughter.

19. Pimps sure know how to spot them....
He'll get her on drugs and then let the wolves have her.
There must be organizations in Houston that can help her.
I would definitely tell her Mother the situation and that Prostitution is the most dangerous 'career' out there.
Some parents shouldn't be parents. Damn shame.
Give helpful information....that's all you can do. Getting arrested for prostitution might be the best thing to happen to her....beats getting HIV and/or murdered.
I'd bet money that Stepdaddy sexually abused her. Hence the gifts. His behavior sounds quite entitled. So it wouldn't be much of a stretch to take liberties with his stepdaughter.
You and your daughter have good hearts. I'm glad you want to do something.
They would know.

DUmmy Horse with no Brain has been getting huge mileage out of this "daughter" storyline lately. I think she recalls all the bouncies Pam used to make up about Holli, after which she won her Top DUmmy award. To tell you the truth, I like the tales Horse with no Brains tells even better.
A couple of weeks ago, she missed a car payment by four days, and a repo man was searching for her.
Then, she shacked up with some deadbeat, bought him an iPhone and a big screen TV, and he bailed on her, leaving the TV payments and the iPhone contract in her name.
Now her daughter has a "friend" turning tricks for a Houston pimp. This part of the story, except for the "friend", may be true. Don't forget, Horse with no Brain lives in a crappy house trailer in a dusty, hot, crappy Texas trailer park. Not exactly the place you'd expect a rich Texas girl to go when she flees her daddy's horse farm in her new car.
-
She getting strong consideration for the front runner for DOTY.

Please, don't encourage her. What does Frank call HorseBrains, an unterprimitive? Anyway, the loss of face experienced by Cavers should this HorseBrains win would be disastrous. :o
-
If the girl is living with her part of time, what would be so difficult about saying "You know, that is one way that pimps get girls to work for them. They help them out, buy them new things, and either tell the girls that now they owe them, or they get them hooked on drugs and tell the girl that they have to be prostitutes to pay them back." :mental:
What is up with the whole hand wringing about telling the mother, etc., etc. Talk to the girl first, and if that doesn't work, talk to the mother immediately.
-
The friend probably comes from "cabbage money" too.

Oh, but I've been pushing Ms. Ed, the unappellated eohippus, the High Priestess of Moloch to the primitives, for one of the top primitive honors for years. Sometimes she's made it into the runners-up, and once into the top ten, but nothing close to the top three.
I think it's because many aren't aware of how truly human garbage Ms. Ed is.
This primitive celebrates abortion, remember. Doesn't just support it, but celebrates it, with an ecstasy and joy that surpasses all understanding, no matter how wide one's understanding is. Ms. Ed loves abortion more than Ms. Ed hates George Bush. She delights in it, froths for it, is ravenous for it, the more the better.
The unappellated eohippus makes the defrocked warped primitive, the Die alte Sau, and dead Vast Teddy look pro-life, in comparison.
This is why, no matter her trials and tribulations, this heart is stone towards Ms. Ed.
She's paranoid about cabbage, too.....
-
What does Frank call HorseBrains, an unterprimitive?
No, madam, I've always called Ms. Ed a drek primitive, never an unterprimitiven.
Imagine a ladder with several rungs. Each rung from the top going on down, is one category of primitive; the non-primitives, the first-tier primitives, the second-tier primitives, the third-tier primitives, the les risibles primitives (the ridiculous primitives).....and then between the next-to-the-last rung on that ladder (going down, remember), there's suddenly a really big gap, and then there's the bottom rung, the drek primitives.
There's a mile of difference between the les risibles primitives and the drek primitives.
The drek primitives are human garbage, and they're so loathesome that out of circa 3500 primitives, there's only three that qualify, really, for that designation. I know it sounds preposterous, the Bostonian Drunkard or Pamela from Wichita (les risibles primitives) being noble and principled and of good moral character, but compared with the drek primitives, they are; they're saints compared with the drek primitives.
The unappellated eohippus is one of those three drek primitives, just trash.
It was Ms. Ed who had a major fit when the then-governor of Alaska, rather than having an abortion, chose to bear and raise a handicapped child. She went ballistic over it.
Ms. Ed also an earlier time got upset when learning of an organization in Canada that promotes the adoption of handicapped infants, because it would discourage abortions.
I've been watching Ms. Ed for seven years now, and she's trash.

You know why I always think stories like this are bs(or at least done for attention only with really no intention of helping anyone)? Because dummies in these situations EVERY TIME have any number of excuses of why they can not do a, b, or c. First we hear how horrible and indulged the child is and now she's fallen in the company of a pimp. And what is the right thing to do? Tell her parents you say? Why, she could not do that, I mean the dad is a total asshole and the mother hurt her wittle feewings last time when told to butt out. So much for persistance to a cause eh? It seems it ends up being all about the dummie being worried about how THEY are going to be treated...when really, a concerned individual probably would care less what another person thought of them if someone's well-being was at stake and all they had to do was relay a message that might help that individual out of a very bad situation.
My ultimate conclusion, is while the stories might be true, they are told to garner sympathy or admiration for being a super liberal, rather than actually soliciting advice as to what should be done. Decent people don't generally need to solicit advice from a hoard of others when it involves just letting a parent know that their child might be in trouble; they just do it.

Perhaps this is why she wants the job. I thought whores were a protected class at DU (or was that only when Ben Burch was there) and what people choose to do with their lives was their own personal lifestyle choice. Sometimes I think there isn't enough vodka in this world to understand these people.

Well, stevenumbers has been posting a lot more often in GD lately.
So far, he's limited himself to brainless, boring, kpete-ish copy-and-paste crap, but we can hope he'll soon start posting updates on his love life.
His dating sagas remain among the finest examples of moonbat nuttiness in DUmp history.

She getting strong consideration for the front runner for DOTY.
It's long overdue, too.
Ms. Ed is somewhat different than she used to be, circa 2004-2007, what with all these silly stories of woe.
It looks as if what happened were the 2008 Democrat presidential primaries, when the 0bamaite primitives suppressed the primitives supporting other, worthier, Democrat candidates. Ms. Ed supported former U.S. Senator John Edwards. I dunno why she didn't support Hillary Clinton, but she was most definitely not "for" the Big Zero, as Ms. Ed doesn't like black (or "black" or half-black) people. The bullying 0bamaite primitives kept shoving, and they almost shoved her off Skins's island.
So the unappellated eohippus is somewhat different now, than she used to be.
But back in her glory days, circa 2004-2007, Ms. Ed was the head cheerleader for the abortion enthusiasts; she was so far overboard she made the normally pro-abortion primitives look "moderate," or even pro-life.
As far as Ms. Ed was concerned, abortion was the greatest thing since sliced bread, if not greater than that.
As far as Ms. Ed was concerned, abortion trumped all other issues, all other rights.
As far as Ms. Ed was concerned, anything that discouraged abortion was Evil; more vile than war or poverty or illiteracy or plague or famine or cataclysmic natural disasters.
As far as Ms. Ed was concerned, live birth is never an option, only abortion is.
As far as Ms. Ed was concerned, the more abortions the better, and if every woman in America would have multiple abortions, this place would turn into Heaven on Earth.
(Please note: I am minimizing her stances on the issue.)
Ms. Ed was a one-issue primitive, and she probably still is, although presently muted.
Ms. Ed probably still gets frenzied orgasms, thinking of abortion.
I do not mean this unkindly, but if Ms. Ed's stated sentiments about abortion posted on Skins's island are actually her real feelings in real life (rather than her just shooting off her mouth), if those are her honest sentiments, then the "Horse With no Name" primitive deserves to die a long, lingering, agonizing, painful sort of death--like maybe being consumed by a certain bacteria eating away at her, for which there is no ameliorative, and which takes years to finish the job.
Even the subway cat is a human, with a soul. Ms. Ed has not a drop of humanity in her.
-

That's making a strong statement.

So...either the "daughter" is a figment of her imagination, or DUmmy Horse with no Brain is a little hypocritical.
And if the daughter does exist, her mother's obsession with abortion must do wonders for that mythical democrat quality of "self esteem".
-

Bingo, jtyangel. They exhibit this pattern all the time, with a variety of personal problems. Helpful suggestions are shouted out, then shot down by the OP. It's maddening. We see it in the Bouncy tales, too. "Did you get a picture?" "What was the name of the business?" "Did you get the badge number?" Nope, and always with the ready excuse.
-
Jealousy oozes, to me. Maybe the horse was hoping for a payday payback, and that day never materialized - or more likely it is a bullcrap story.
-

No, the daughter probably exists, and might, or might not, have been a resented pregnancy and a resented child.
But the real cause of the unappellated eohippus's rabid pro-abortionism might be her own lack of self-worth.
For a few years, I used to think that Ms. Ed was actually a registered nurse. She's never once come out and said she's a registered nurse, but oftentimes she's very careful to try to give that impression without saying it.
Before then, I thought she was a keyboardist in a hospital or medical clinic, because of her posting style.
The past year or so, I've been back to thinking she's a keyboardist, because once she started posting non-abortion material (i.e., other sorts of stuff), it became obvious she's not very bright, and in fact quite simple.
And as recent posts of hers have indicated, she doesn't live on the right side of the tracks, which demonstrates she's likely no medical professional.
-
That's making a strong statement.
It's however a statement I apply to only three primitives, the drek primitives, out of circa 3,500.
Which to me indicates tolerance of a rather wide breadth of humanity and human behavior.
I would never say the same thing about the subway cat or the Bostonian Drunkard, for example. They're fools, they're parasites, they're boryborygmous gas, but they're also human, and that trumps all.
-

Always the possibility of being a CNA. Works around registered nurses but mostly does menial duties, such as cleaning up dirty diapers and changing sheets.
Minimal training requirements.

In my experience, this sort of thing invariably indicates that the person definitely does NOT have whatever professional qualification involved in the appearance he or she is trying to create. Doctors, lawyers, engineers, RNs, pilots...I've seen many examples of this truth-skirting, artful deception that stops short of outright lies (I have run into a couple of outright liars, but they are much more rare). Given this slant, I would bet she is at most an LPN, but more likely never even got that ticket but merely took some nursing courses, academic or practical, at some point and ended up working at a more menial level in the medical field.

An RN would not be living in a Texas trailer park.

Ah, sorry, Frank, haven't been here for a week or so and thus missed your most learned discourse on the primatives. I will endeavor to keep the different categories separated in my mind henceforth, although, trash IS trash.
Still, there is the trash that is processed wood in nature, and the trash, such as my grandson's diapers, which is more, shall we say, processed food? So, I am correct in labeling Ms. Ed as a vile end product of processed food, yes? :-)
