Huckabee Opts Against 2012 White House Bid
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/05/14/huckabee-opts-2012-white-house-bid/
Mike Huckabee said Saturday there would be no sequel to his surprisingly strong 2008 White House bid, in which he won the Iowa Republican caucus and finished second in the primaries to Sen. John McCain.
"All the factors say go, but my heart says no," Huckabee, who was considered the GOP frontrunner in several national polls, said on his Fox News Channel show.
Before his announcement Saturday night, Huckabee hadn't shared his decision with his closest advisers.
Many of those advisers predicted Huckabee wouldn't run.
Ed Rollins, who was Huckabee's national campaign chairman for the 2008 campaign, said he expected this decision after Huckabee had broken off communications with him about a week ago.

One down. :yahoo:

Thank God.
Now some others need to go away, too.
-
I like him as an individual, but very few non-Evangelicals (Me included) could take a Creationist Presidential candidate seriously. Flame away if you must, but it's my honest assessment.

The least of my concerns.

Mine as well......he was way too close to the "religious right" for comfort for a lot of conservatives. We need a candidate with well-defined principles, and a more statesmanlike approach to politics, Huckabee was, perhaps for lack of a better phrase, too unsophisticated........

But then again, you're a damn' rabbit, all you care about is free carrots and cutting back on small game season.

Thank God......
Why do you say that?

Hey, cavegal, where you been? :cheersmate:

Why do you say that?
Because God has blessed this country by keeping a RINO with questionable (at best) conservative principles from making it easier for Barry Soetoro to get another 4 years in the Oval Office. When God does something like that, it is customary to express gratitude to Him for it.

So, if Mike Huclabee does not meet your conservative standards, who does?

Lt. Col West would be a good choice, in my opinion, as would Herman Cain. I'd love to see Tom Tancredo give it another run, but I also understand why he won't. If the primaries were closing and all that was left in the running were a bunch of Dhimmi'Rat in sheep's clothing RINOs, the least objectionable of that bunch would be Newt, but I'd have to hold my nose pretty damned tight to pull the lever for him.
You know, CC, it isn't like I make my beliefs and preferences a secret here. Perhaps a little time, reading and lurking - you know, getting to know the old timers here before throwing out questions that could be perceived as challenges - might be in order, sir.
Regardless, welcome aboard. :cheers1:

Allen West has my vote. but says he's not going to run. he's former military and national security is an issue with me. in spite of his problem in Iraq ive seen him tell the ragheads where to shove that ****in' quran and their religion of murder.
i like the way he talks. straight from the hip and with the bark on.
-
I like Allen West too. But one has to be a realist: Do you know what the press (except for Fox) would do to West? The press, and Liberal groups, would label him an Uncle Tom; they'd say that he was only nominated so we could put a black guy against a black guy. Nobody would hear a word he said because they would make the whole thing about "race". Its sad and its unfair but thats exactly what would happen.
We need the guy who can WIN, not the guy who is a perfect Republican and will lose.

How's it working for them against Herman Cain? Not too well as he's a favorite and winning straw polls all over the place.

If - IF - Cain gets the Republican nomination you'll see the fangs and the venom from the Left. They'll do it to him too.

I need to hear them talk more at the debates. I want the guy who can out-talk Obama. That's why I like Huckabee: His good natured persona contrasted with Obama's arrogance and made Obama look bad IMHO. I think a debate between those two would have made Obama look bad.
It may well be the the balance will be tipped one way or another on something as superficial as that. They keep talkling about Obama's "likability" factor in polls. Smash that likability, and that - coupled with the rotten economy - will sink the sorry bastard.

Obama is a freaking lightweight. Cain schooled Clinton back in the early 90's, and while I disagreed with Clinton on almost everything, he was brilliant as a politician, an orator, and very educated.
Why do people continue the charade that Obama is some mental giant that can't be touched by most people? Am I the only one that sees him for what he is, a shyster snakeoil salesman? If he was THAT f'n intelligent, and had the IQ of God, TRUST me, those transcripts would be all OVER the place just to prove people wrong. They're not.
-
Hey man, if you're right and it works out that way I'll be the first guy to cheer. I am just scared to death of four more years of that jerkweed Obama, and don't want to take a chance on losing, you know?

Juan McLame was billed as the guy who could win, because of his ability to "reach around across the aisle". How'd that work out for us?
I'll stick to one of el Rushbo's Undeniable Truths of Life®:
..."Conservativism works EVERY TIME it's tried."

Rebel, you are batting 1000 on that one, I have suspected exactly that since Day One of the 'Sooper genius' meme, but the fact he was 'President of the Law Review' yet never published anything in it really nailed it for me when I first heard that detail.
Given his affirmative action-blessed academic career, there is no doubt in my mind that his 'Faculty advisor' would have cleaned up whatever garbage he coughed out on discrimination law to a standard that it could be published (Just short of actually writing it for him), but it appears he couldn't come up with even the raw material to build something that could be launched down those greased skids.
H5!

That was almost 20 years ago well before Herman was in the national spotlight. He's since retired from being a CEO and has had a talk show on WSB in Atlanta for a while, as well as fill in for Boortz and Hannity on numerous occasions.

And he'll (meaning Cain or West) shut them up by saying "Which is more racist: acknowledging someone's skin color and moving on, or demanding that people think the way that the majority of others with that skin color think?"

Oh, yes, he would say that, and he'd be right, and you and me would applaud. But since when do the facts shut-up the Liberal press and their ani-Right hate machine?

Liberals aren't going to vote for him anyway, so what does it matter? It's doing nothing but steeling conservative voter's resolve.

But to WIN - which has been my whole point in several threads, winning - you need to get the independents. And a lot of independents listen to the mainstream idiots, getting there dose of half-hour news from some alphabet station. And if they are fed a constant stream of anti-Cain or anti-West propoganda that does not help at all.
That brings me back to several posts I posted originally: We need the guy who can WIN. I don't know why you guys keep arguing with me on that point. Do you want the guy who can win, or do you want to go over the cliff waving the flag of conservative purity?
Its like with the PaulBots: The PaulBots just don't get that a guy who promotes legalizing Heroin, prostitution and gay marriage is gonna LOSE. But they don't care, they're PaulBots and they would nominate Ron Paul, wave the Ron Paul flag until the end, and hand the White House to Obama for another four years, the morons.

I HAVE a guy that can win. Your failed logic is he can't win because the liberal press doesn't like him. As for anti-Cain propaganda, how old are you? How long have you been following elections? They're going to do that to ANY Republican candidate that polls close to their man child.
Regardless of the running joke, 1+1 does not equal potato.

I don't remember suggesting that you should
But you'd better choose the guy who can win: Its either that or four more years of Obama.

Do you know how to win the independent vote? Offer them a clear choice. Once again, to quote Rush: Conservatism works every time it's tried.
You don't water down your principles until you're no more than a weak Dem-lite: if the damn mushy middle wants a Dem, *******it, they'll vote for the real thing, not a Juan McLame wannabe shouting, "me, too" to every last Dhimmi'Rat talking point. If you show them a conservative, and they vote for the cockroach in the blue suit anyway, then they were never really that open to begin with, were they?

GEEZZZ man, all I want to do is beat Obama and make sure we pick the guy who can do it, and you people are all climbing up my arse. WTF!
Fine. I'll get out of the thread.

Or perhaps get a better argument than, "we better get someone the leftist media says can beat Obama". Maybe you like the "Republicans" that the White House says scares them? Huntsman? Daniels?

Well, we tried it your way in 2008. We nominated a guy who appealed to the squishy middle, who polled great with the independents. He laid out a wonderfully milquetoast platform that sounded remarkably like that of his opponent (he wasn't against raising taxes, was all for increasing the Dhimmi'Rat voter base with another legislated amnesty; hell, he was an even stronger advocate for the Cap & Tax scheme of destroying America than Barry was), and he got his ass handed to him by a freshman senator/demagogue who had spent a grand total of about 140 days on the ****in' job.
-

No one asked you to get out of anything. You'll figure it out here soon enough. We don't have a bunch of people walking lockstep, nor will you get banned for disagreeing with anyone, but you have to expect people are going to be passionate and defend their principles.

The left talked glowingly of McCain but as soon as he became the nominee ( :banghead: ) they eviscerated him just as much as any other non-socialist.
The only way we won't draw their ire is to run Bernie Sanders.
**** what they think, let's save the damn country...
...and shorten small game season.
Personally, I like Cain a lot. He's smart, extremely well-spoken. Talks with the voice of experience but accessible to the lay person. Doesn't try to be all things to all people and he is marketable.
