Title: Obama involved in friendly-fire incident in Libya, blows-up supporters
Post by: SSG Snuggle Bunny on May 13, 2011, 05:03:02 PM
Rhetorically speaking.

I know, I'm such a tease.

I'm no fan of the War Powers Resolution. I think it is an unconstitutional encroachment of the president's authority. It is akin to the president issuing an executive order declaring congress cannot levy tariffs.

Still, this is funny...

Quote
The administration apparently has no intention of pulling out of the Libya campaign, and Mr. Steinberg said that Mr. Obama was committed “to act consistently with the War Powers Resolution.” So the Obama legal team is now trying to come up with a plausible theory for why continued participation by the United States does not violate the law.

A variety of Pentagon and military officials said the issue was in the hands of lawyers, not commanders. Several officials described a few of the ideas under consideration…

By ending all [drone] strike missions for American forces, the argument then could be made that the United States was no longer directly engaged in hostilities in Libya, but only providing support to NATO allies.

Another idea is for the United States to order a complete — but temporary — halt to all of its efforts in the Libya mission. Some lawyers make the case that, after a complete pause, the United States could rejoin the mission with a new 60-day clock.

****ing pathetic. Pause then start a new clock? That's what $1500/hours buys from leading liberal law scholars?

Libya is a cluster ****. Even Obama doesn't know what we're doing there but the left has a serious crisis on their hands. They can:

A) Make the Nobel Peace Prize winning Obama go to congress and beg for a war

B) Demand congress--full of republicans--bring their president to heel

C) Force Obama to take a military loss on a war of his own choosing, just before an election

D) Look the other way and forever lose the credibility to complain about republican military efforts

Blinding incompetence on so many levels and while he does damage so much of the damage done is to his own side.

You know, I generally prefer to carefully choose my friends but could we have asked for a better enemy?

How many "business days' have we been in Libya anyway.   Didn't Obama say it was only going to be days?

Why is the Syrian government still being allowed to kill hundreds while were focused on Libya, which is barely making the news?

We need to just GTFO.  We aren't accomplishing anything positive and the entire thing is becoming the giant cluster**** that everyone with a brain knew it would.
