New Yorkers under 30 plan to flee city, says new poll; cite high taxes, few jobs as reasons

ALBANY - Escape from New York is not just a movie - it's also a state of mind.

A new Marist College poll shows that 36% of New Yorkers under the age of 30 are planning to leave New York within the next five years - and more than a quarter of all adults are planning to bolt the Empire State.

The New York City suburbs, with their high property values and taxes, are leading the exodus, the poll found.

Of those preparing to leave, 62% cite economic reasons like cost of living, taxes - and a lack of jobs.

"A lot of people are questioning the affordability of the state," said Lee Miringoff, director of the Marist College Institute for Public Opinion.

Bullshit!

Everyone knows high taxes means more government revenue which gets $1.80 per dollar spent creating public services and economic conditions that are a perpetual money making machine.

Why you gotta lie, liar?

If I didn't have as many ties here as I do, I'd give up trying to change people by force of example and leave.

Nah, CA is even worse.  Last time I checked the unemployment rate there was still over 12 percent.

Oh, and DUmmies?  Look at the graphic there and tell me that this isn't a prime indicator of your failure of "progressivism"...

If your ever do decide to pick up and leave you'd be more than welcome down here in redneck land. Contrary to popular belief we don't hate all yankees. We just dislike yankees that are idiots.

:lmao: Nah. There's more than that. But I do admit it sometimes takes a yankee a while to convince folks that he or she is NOT an idiot.

My dad was in the hospital not too long ago having some test done. His nurse was a pretty good guy who had a New York accent. We were joking about the differences between north and south, big city and rural. He said he used to just be a yankee but since he never went home he is now a DAMN yankee.

Since those are the same little self-absorbed Leftist pukes that find out-of-wedlock father Dave Letterman's disgusting low blows at out-of-wedlock mother Bristol Palin so frickin' entertaining, they can move their happy asses to Connecticut, Rhode Island, or MassiveTwoShits and stay the Hell out of any Red states.

Yep.  They'll flee to another state to avoid the mess they created.  As soon as they're settled, they'll get right down to making their new home as awful as the old one.

My County is still heavily Republican but the idiots moving here from NY and Democratic Counties in NJ, basically trying to flee crime and move to nice safe areas, they still vote Democrat, and you see the same thing happening in States like North and South Carolina, Florida etc.

My county is still Republican, and the region of the county that I live in is rather heavily Republican.

My state is mostly red except for the moonbat populations in the northern and SE parts.

What still kills me is that the daughter in law of the late, great Chesty Puller is a gun grabbing leftist in the state legislature.

NY State is a totally different world, when I talk about NY'ers moving here I'm talking about the ones living in the 5 Boro's, specifically the elitist regressives.

Don't come to Texas. We have high taxes, high crime, no jobs, mosquitoes, high interest rates, no housing, no food, no water. :whistling:

NYNY is just one more regulation and two more tax increases away from the perfect socialist utopia.
