All I can see is a red x both here and at the DUmp.  What is the image?

A stupid pin that says, "Those that can, teach.  Those that can't pass laws about teaching." Oh so clever  :whatever:

It's a derisive takeoff on the old phrase "Those who can't do, teach."  Which I find much more accurate.

The thread just kinda devolves into some PC one-upsmanship over Jews.

Yeah? Well an ellipsis has 3 periods, not 4, ...teach.

5. And I always hated that because my dad was a much loved and respected coach

It just isn't funny anymore. Wasn't funny then either.

9. I thought it was very funny,

But then again, NY Jewish humor maybe doesn't play that well in Kansas...

10. Fail. It's about bashing teachers, which isn't funny in NY either.

I only bash public school teachers. Charter school educators are the future.

12. No, it's not about bashing teachers. It's about being funny.

Humor is pain. It's a Jewish thang, you wouldn't understand.

Woody probably has more teachers in his family than you can imagine.

It's a STYLE of humor that doesn't translate well to the Bible Belt, I'm serious,

For which P2B lies to prove a point.

You don't know that I have Jewish relatives. Some are teachers and they don't find it funny either. And no one I know here in the "bible belt" is lacking a sense of humor.

This regional bashing on DU is repulsive.

Bullshit.

I didn't read down the DUmp thread.

I certainly respect elementary school teachers, and don't necessarily believe that credo about them.  Elementary teachers are so incredibly important in the development of children.

She's very defensive about that.  Must be more than a hint of truth to it. I wonder what p2blib failed at before settling for becoming a teacher?

Trying being a southerner reading DU sometime.

I'd love to tell you about it but I'm too busy trying to pop my sister in squeak-hole before going to the next tent revival meeting between tornado drills.

My mother teaches second grade and pours her heart and soul into helping to enrich the lives of her students, so I too have at least some respect for elementary school teachers and try to avoid making overly generalizing statements about them whenever possible.

Yeah, my ex-wife is a second grade teacher.  I know how hard she worked and how important of a job it is.

I've got a neighbor in my apartment building that teaches second grade.  I know that she puts everything she can into her profession, as co-workers of hers have told me that she does.  (Plus, she's a good person, and she's easy to look at.  :naughty: )

lol.

Those who cannot, forget to put a comma in the proper position. The pin looks like it's missing the main verb.

Those who cannot pass laws about teaching should learn about the rules of English grammar.

What's the rest of the sentence?

Sorry. But if they're going to act like educators, I'd hope for proper grammar, at least.

I know what the button intends to say; however, to me it actually appears to be saying that people who are able are teachers for another group of folks. The group of folks being taught are not able to pass laws about teaching.

Yeah? Well an ellipsis has 3 periods, not 4, ...teach.

Heh! My Mom, the English teacher creature for the last 50 years, who by the way teaches in a private school so she can teach the way she likes, would eat this DumpMonkie a new ass.

Some of my favorites:

Dogs go mad, people get angry. When did you become a canine?
Food gets done, people get finished. I knew you were ignorant, but I never thought you were a vegetable. Perhaps I am mistaken.
Profanity is a sign of ignorance. If you cannot converse with me using proper English, then you are ignorant and I do not desire to waste my time with an ignorant person.
Ain't is not a word. (I got a big Websters unabridged dictionary thrown at me when I looked up "ain't" in Websters one day, back when I was in my teens, and pointed out to her that it was in Webster's. It was always Websters. If it wasn't in there, then it was not a word. That book hurt too! Left a big bruise on my behind.  :-) )
Don't EVER ask her if she can do something if you want the task completed. She will respond in the affirmative and leave it at that. When it doesn't get completed, and you ask her about why it wasn't completed, she will very properly inform you that you never asked her if she WOULD do it, you asked her if she "can" do it.

I send her an email and it comes back corrected in red.

I hate English teachers.

English was my weakest subject in HS.  All A's and B's in everything else, C's in English.  Still graduated with a 3.65 GPA.

Naw I don't do that. I really don't want the mini tower thrown at my ass.  I'm sure it would hurt a lot more than Webster and that is a large book. Not to mention I'd have to replace the mini tower if it didn't work when I plugged it back in and then I would get blamed cause I "made her" throw it at me.

My luck the monitor and the keyboard would get screwed up too and I'd have to replace the whole system... and of course it would all be my
fault.  :-) :-) :-)

Moms! Gotta love 'em!!!   :-) :-) :-)

I know some good teachers and I know some bad ones, really bad ones. Unions make it so the bad ones stay on while sacrificing good teachers for the dues and donk campaign donations (but I repeat myself). Until the good ones speak out it will continue and they are complicit.

A union has never helped a company become more efficient or it's bottom line. Same goes for the teachers unions. Not only do they not help our children, they actively use our children as props to the detriment of our children. Many of the teachers look at the job of educating our children as a game they score by how much they can get out of the system for the least amount of work. Much like the social safety net leeches.
