Interesting how the Big Oil Execs can sit in a hearing and point a gun

at the American people and threaten to rob them regardless of whether there are subsidies or not and not bat an eye. Interesting too is the ending lne of story about it on ABC World News this morning was to the effect that it is unlikely that congress would vote for removal of subsidies for Big Oil.

The govt already makes more per gallon than the evil oil companies. The govt is so greedy that they want even more.

Nancy Pelosi has a lot of nerve saying that they don't need that money.

2. They understand.

That any taxes against them must originate in the House and they know that is not going to happen so long as Repubs are in charge. Notice how prices started up when the Repubs won the House back.

Gas prices skyrocketed after the dems took the house and senate in 2007.

Yo, skidmark--the government doesn't even have to point a gun.  They just ****ing take it, no questions asked.

How do you feel about Exxon-Mobil making 20 cents on a gallon of gasoline from start to finish, yet the government can just show up, not do jack shit, and charge upwards of 70 cents a gallon in taxes?

I think Exxon made 2 cents a gallon.

I'm talking about the ENTIRE process, not all of which is Exxon-Mobil necessarily...from drilling, to transport, to refining, to distribution, and finally the pump.

Actually, gas prices started shooting up after the child that is in the White Mosque put in place the permatorium on oil and gas exploration. But hey, don't let facts or a time line get in the way of good line of rhetoric.

Don't forget the other cutesy little issues like QE1, QE2, Porkulus, the deficit basically driving the US dollar to the level of the Zimbabwe dollar.  That "helped" too.

I hope the execs gave them an earful, I caught a brief clip of Chuck the Schmuck trying to speechify one of their answers...even on Fox the media covers the grandstanding Congressional bullshit non-questions instead of the factual answers.

America produces less than it imports.

How come the dems didn't haul any foreign execs on the carpet and threaten them with tariffs?

Not to mention Jay Rockefeller's comment about the oil companies being "out of touch", considering his fortune came from his great-grandfather and Standard Oil.

Dimwit hypocrisy knows no limits.
