Now its the code name they used for bin Laden
The critics are jumping all over the code name "Geronimo" Code name for bin Laden.
The top staffer for the Senate Indian Affairs Committee and a Native American tribe are objecting to the U.S. military's use of the code name "Geronimo" for Osama bin Laden during the raid that killed the al-Qaida leader.
After bin Laden was killed, the military sent a message back to the White House: "Geronimo EKIA" — enemy killed in action.
Geronimo was an Apache leader in the 19th century who spent many years fighting the Mexican and U.S. armies until his surrender in 1886.
"Think of the outcry if they had used any other ethnic group's hero," the Onondaga Council of Chiefs said in a statement quoted by the Syracuse Post-Standard. "Geronimo bravely and heroically defended his homeland and his people, eventually surrendering and living out the rest of his days peacefully, if in captivity."
As Geronimo is "arguably the most recognized Native American name in the world," the link "only serves to perpetuate negative stereotypes about our people," the statement said.

The governments code name for Osama bin Laden was "Geronimo"!! What an insult to Native-Americans!
The military compared Osama to the great Native-American resistance leader Geronimo.
That's just wonderful.
What an insult to Native-Americans and all those who resisted the occupation of their lands in the west.
Geronimo's band was one of the last major forces of independent Native American warriors who refused to acknowledge the United States occupation of the American West. BBI

How did special forces relay the news to commanders that OBL was dead? Code name was "Geronimo"; call came in as "Geronimo is KIA"

5. I doubt that. It just demonstrates how ignorant of American history those who choose that name are.
And how racist they are.

Really.
It. Has. Nothing. To. Do. With. Racism.
It's a nickname given to highlight how elusive OBL has been. Read a few books on the man (Geronimo).

83. Remember Geronomo's Skull that the Fraternity Bush belonged to at Yale had stolen?
It is indeed an odd name that was picked considering Bush family has long ties with Bin Laden Family and to use the name Geronimo is the kind of trick the Bushies loved to do with NickNames.

I'm sorry, I was struck by this tortured sentence structure.
BTW, is that your NickName, KoKo?

One of the Indian tribes is demanding an apology now.

The DUmmies wouldn't be so keen on Geronimo if they knew this about him:
"Since my life as a prisoner has begun I have heard the teachings of the white man's religion, and in many respects believe it to be better than the religion of my fathers ... Believing that in a wise way it is good to go to church, and that associating with Christians would improve my character, I have adopted the Christian religion. I believe that the church has helped me much during the short time I have been a member. I am not ashamed to be a Christian, and I am glad to know that the President of the United States is a Christian, for without the help of the Almighty I do not think he could rightly judge in ruling so many people. I have advised all of my people who are not Christians, to study that religion, because it seems to me the best religion in enabling one to live right."

Just apologize, it's not like it takes that much effort to issue a public apology, and it's not like they meant to offend in the first place or that it's really even that big of an issue.
I'm sure if they had used "Jesus" instead, the uproar would be off the Richter scale, when it's literally just the same shit, different name.
-
Like my co-worker, who's a member of a tribe of Blackfoot and a Navy Vietnam Vet said, "What the hell do the Onondaga have to do with Geronimo?" Same with the Nez Perce, who also seem to have a problem with it.
It's akin to me getting pissed because someone insulted a French guy. Some people just want to bitch.
-
For decades, enemy territory has been referred to as "Indian country". Geronimo is just a natural extension of that.

John F'n Kerry was a member too. DUmmie. :mental:

Obama wanted to use "Bush did it" but wiser heads thought it might reflect to positively on the former president.
-
The DUmmies have a point.
The real Geronimo had to prove himself in battle as a brave before any of his tribe would have cared what he had to say. He had to prove himself worthy again of having a wife. He had to show wisdom and skill to get others of his tribe to follow him. I doubt Osama is fit to fill Geronimo's shoes, no matter what one thinks of Geronimo. That being said, maybe Geronimo might like that his reputation is still so strong that a hundred years after his death, the descendants of his enemies named their new nemesis after him.

Just apologize
Two words for you: **** that.
it's not like it takes that much effort to issue a public apology, and it's not like they meant to offend in the first place or that it's really even that big of an issue.
Hardly. It's long past time for the permanently offended moral terrorists to climb down off their crosses, build a bridge, and get over themselves. It is also long past time for everyone else to tell these loud-mouthed pussies to zip their lips and shut their heads.
**** 'em, they don't need a damn apology and they don't deserve one.
I'm sure if they had used "Jesus" instead, the uproar would be off the Richter scale, when it's literally just the same shit, different name.
No, DUmbass, it wouldn't have. Using "Jesus" would be a bigger back handed slap at that islamokazie than giving him the distinction of using "Geronimo". It would have been hilarious to see the outrage from the muslim trash for their "arab holy warrior" to be given the code name of a Christian Nation savior. However, nobody in the US Govt has the balls to give the finger to the head choppers.

Just wondering, does Koko eat his kittens plain or does he mash them up with his vegetables? Sorry, couldn't resist!

Funny how they're spinning like crazy to change the story so that Geronimo was the mission name and Osama was Jackpot.
On May 1, President Obama and others in the White House situation room heard the words, “We’ve ID’d Geronimo,†and soon got the word that Osama bin Ladin had been killed: “Geronimo EKIA,†shorthand for “enemy killed in action.â€
Sorry, try again DUmmies.

Maybe they oughta go after their buddy, Charlie Sheen.
