Edited on Mon May-02-11 11:30 AM by Recursion
2 years without torture, and we get the info to put a bullet in his face.

7. Not necessarily. I remember seeing some
testimony where one of the high level assets that was held at Guantanimo gave BAD info under torture, but good info under regular interrogation. We don't know if this info came from waterboarding or regular interrogation. I would put my money on the regular interrogation.
As to Gitmo, the captured asset that gave up the info, could have been detained anywhere as long as we weren't torturing him.

21. The information came from interrogations in Gitmo. Link here:

Detainees at the prison at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, had given the courier’s pseudonym to American interrogators and said that the man was a protégé of Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, the confessed mastermind of the Sept. 11 attacks.
American intelligence officials said Sunday night that they finally learned the courier’s real name four years ago, but that it took another two years for them to learn the general region where he operated.

22. OK, so torture got them a name, actual interrogation got them something actionable
If they had started that way, he might have been dead four years ago rather than Sunday.

11. In his address, Obam, stated that the info came in August of last year
not 2004

Recursion has been drooling over Atman/Texastoast's posts too often.

Sorry DUmbasses - there is no way you will be able to give this victory to Obama - as this was a product of the ongoing military action in Afghanistan he inherited.... See how that works, primitives ?

Golly.
It never occurred to us to ask for actionable information.
We're such sillies.

It's only been in the past year or so that Jack Bauer has had time to work on it.

I miss the days when they told us that Bush had Bin Laden on ice in the white house basement.

There were some threads like that, but they either sank or were moved.

Hey DUmmies, I would have been real slow to take him down as well. Why not? Observe who enters and who leaves, run some trucks past and maybe pull info off their computers without their knowledge, ya know just generally bust the whole damn network. To Obama's and Bush's credit I think that is what they did.
