Every single election where a republican is president, they trot out that line. I heard it in 72, 76, 84, 88, 92, 2004 and now this year.
1976 wasn't that great a year. And in 1980, there might have been some validity to it, the but president that year was a Democrat. So no one said it.
What I am waiting to hear is that the country is more divided than it has ever been since 1864. Someday soon, we will start hearing THAT

we are hardly in the worst economy ever...
this is laughable & just about EVERYONE stupid is chirping that (republican & democrat alike)
get rid of severance packages, welfare, workmans comp, credit cards, bankruptcy laws & the 20 thousand other government programs/protection laws, & then people will know what THE WORST feels like.,..
