An Atherton educator who unleashed a profanity-laced tirade in his classroom last month that frightened one student so badly she called 911 will spend the remainder of the academic year on medical leave and undergoing anger management counseling, the Redwood City School District announced Wednesday.
John Haynes, an eighth-grade math teacher at Selby Lane School, also will send a letter of explanation and apology to parents of students in his class as part of an agreement he reached with the district to keep his job, said Superintendent Jan Christensen. He will be placed at a different school when he returns.
"This is an agreement that will allow Mr. Haynes to be on medical leave and get some counseling so that he can deal with the way he acts with students in a more appropriate way," Christensen said.

I dunno, I'm of two minds about it. Losing it in front of the class, bad, but if he can get headshrunk and reform, it's worth a try instead of just shitcanning him straightaway and then (Especially in Cali) ending up paying him a mental disability retirement for the rest of his life for nothing in return. A zero defects approach to anything but submarine welds and airframe assembly is generally a bad idea.

I believe that if I were an eighth grade math teacher and I had given a test with the question 1+1= ? ...and all the answers came back 1+1= patato...I'd go berzerk too.

Not if that's what you taught the kids.

Mrs. E has the patience of Job -- as an educator, you HAVE to have that quality.
But there are even some things that set her off.....
....about 3rd graders.
8th graders? Shit -- she'd be loppin' heads off with a machete if she could get away with it! :lmao:

And the boils to prove it.
Sorry dude, had to.

I take it none of these little pansyassed mofos play a sport. Profanity-laced tirades were the soup du jour.

Well, like anybody else, she'll get a pimple once in awhile, but no boils.
Besides, Job was an example. A rather severe example.
The Jews know how to come up with examples. :-)

Really? He sounds like the majority of my high school teachers. The ones that smacked ya in the head or popped you with an eraser would gain my respect and I would learn!

I wonder what the kids were doing beforehand.
I was in a tech class where the teacher lost it...the hammer he was holding went right through the window. We never pushed him that far again.

I'd have to agree.
