The jug ear[sic] Muslim. But it's not racist.
**** the DU rules about mentioning other sites that shall not be mentioned. It's time we called them out. In a thread about how stupid I am, our parallel universe site openly, happily refers to our president as "the jug eared Muslim" while slamming me for supporting him. Come on...they're not even trying to hide their racism anymore. Why do we try to pretend the racists don't exist? They're there, and they're mocking us. Why can't we call them out for their blatant racism?

Actually, aside from his stupidity (which is more than enough reason), I think some decent and civilized person may have slammed Pedro's racism for suggesting that Africans live in mud huts. As we know, some Kenyans live in exceptionally fine surroundings. And if anyone can suggest a better description of a jug-eared muslim than "jug-eared muslim" (the adjective requires a hyphen, Pedro) we can consider it. Race comes into it not at all, except for the DUmp rule that any criticism of the jug-eared muslim is, by definition, racist. Is it racist to call the Right Reverend Wright a raving lunatic? Nope, just another case of honesty in action.

"Jug-eared Muslim" certainly qualifies as an insensitive, intolerant statement. Muslim is a religion, so it really isn't racism. And, if the person saying it is simply being a prick, he may not actually be a racist.
Racism comes from within, and we have no way of knowing. Let's attack the use of the words and leave racism out of it.

Pedro Picasso's getting cranky and crochety in his old age; probably it's time to exchange his office-chair for a rocking-chair. Probably naturally-advancing arteriosclerosis, as unlike Doug's stupid ex-wife, he doesn't have a record of chomping down handfuls of pharmaceuticals as if popcorn.
However, I do really really feel for both Pedro Picasso and the sparkling husband primitive--really, honestly, sincerely--in that they have to follow my fellow alum Skins's rule about not mentioning this site.
It's a silly rule, but it's Skins's real-estate, and it's Skins's rule.
They both must be about ready to burst, all this pent-up vexation inside of them.

It had to be gently pointed out to Pedro that "Muslim" isn't a dirty, pejorative term. Only jug-eared is an insult, such as when you use it on Prince Charles.

How is "jug-earred" in writing any different from a caricaturist drawing a picture of a big-earred guy, such as in a political cartoon?
One uses words, the other uses a picture.
And Pedro Picasso, allegedly himself a caricaturist, should surely know there's no difference.
One recalls ancient political cartoons of the bulbous belly of Lyndon Johnson, the big nose of Richard Nixon, the gigantic teeth of James Carter.
Why is it okay to draw these caricatures with pencil or paint, but not okay to draw these caricatures with words?
I'm curious.

Well, there's one big problem with that. At Mission Control, as the number three cartoonist on a staff of three, Pedro is at no time allowed to draw cartoons. That's the province of the number one cartoonist. Pedro's artistry is restricted to drawing the voice "bubbles" above the cartoon characters, so that the number two cartoonist can then draw the letters and decide the number of exclamation points. Advancing to the lettering job is currently beyond Pedro's skill level, and actually drawing cartoon characters is something about which he cannot even dream.
So there appears little chance for Pedro to reach a level that might pay a living wage. For the foreseeable future, Pedro's family will have to rely on the wealth of Mrs. Picasso's family for sustenance, as has always been the case.

1) Liberals get to define what is and isn't racist, bigoted, etc..., and
2) We called Bush whatever we wanted for 8 years, but you're not allowed to call Dear Leader anything of which we don't approve.
The answer to these are 1) no you don't, nor will you ever, and 2) BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!, that's not the way the real world works.

Other than that, I dunno anything else about her, as she's not a primitive hanging around Skins's island, and franksolich respects boundaries, observing and evaluating only primitives.
They have one, possibly, two, adult sons, but again, as they're not primitives.....
But one has always been curious about Pedro Picasso's relations with his wife (who remains behind the curtain, as she's not a primitive &c., &c., &c.). From the first evening I encountered Pedro Picasso, I was struck by that he seems obsessed with women's menstrual products, and of course time has proven that first impression correct.

For example, Pedro has now told us his boss at Mission Control is Mr. Muslim (strange but true). Even though it's a tiny junk mail operation, it is possible that Mr. Muslim doesn't even know Pedro's name. After all, he's the very lowest ranked cartoonist, third in a field of three, bottom of the barrel, restricted to drawing blank speech bubbles above the characters, to be filled in later by a more skilled cartoonist. But it's probable that Mr. Muslim would not appreciate Pedro wasting hours every day on DUmp lunacy. It's even more probable that Mr. Muslim would be unhappy that his name is being bandied about on that lunatic site by his bubble boy.
And god forbid Mr. Muslim should ever realize that most shops have one guy draw both the speech bubbles and the words. At most junk mail companies, dedicated bubble boys were a Bush-era extravagance.

Yeah, that's always bothered me, when a primitive's been indiscreet like that.
Really it does, because franksolich has boundaries, but franksolich being human is sometimes, uh, tempted.
Thus far he's successfully resisted temptation, but as the stockbrokers say, "past performance is no indication of future performance."
I'll never forget, for example, the time the sparkling husband primitive posted a link in the cooking and baking forum, a link which included his real name (the campfire was about pet dogs; I dunno why it was in the cooking and baking forum)--which explains why I know of his Italianate derivation.
But his real-life name, no, I don't know, because when I saw the link, I got embarrassed, as if walking into a room and seeing a woman undressing, and so hurried away without noting that detail, his real-life name.
In the case of Pedro Picasso, there was the time, during the Bush Prosperity, that he lit a campfire whining about the AMT (alternative minimum tax), and he gave enough details that anyone who works with income taxes (such as franksolich) could grasp a pretty good idea of his real-life income, within $10,000.
It's no fun catching a primitive being indiscreet; it's like shooting fish in a barrel.
Better that the primitives be discreet, hiding details, as it's more exciting for anthropological research when one is compelled to use one's talents at deciphering mysterious codes. Exercise of the intellect, I call it.

Obviously, that I missed. But one can't see everything.
Remember, when Pedro Picasso first got hired, he frankly admitted to the other primitives he couldn't hang around Skins's island as much as he used to, because the company was concerned for its good name.
And an employee who hangs around Skins's island isn't helping embellish that good name.
After all, the company deals with Democrat candidates and issues to the "right" (quotation marks intentional) of the primitives, and given the reputation of Skins's island, some of those prospective customers might find a primitive enough that they decide to take their business somewhere else.
I think Pedro Picasso was a little too, uh, indiscreet here.
One wonders if his boss knows about it yet.
