I can't believe I'm doing this: Quitting my current job
Yes, I went through 6 months of unemployment. I tried to find work every day, and could never land a job. Then I got my current gig: in tech support. I was taking a huge pay cut, but it was a job.
Fast forward to today: the "C-Level" folks are trying to run me out on a rail, despite me being the only support guy left who knows the product. The customers never had a problem with me, my co-workers never had a problem with me. I did my work, but my boss - he hated me. No idea why - I guess being an asshole can only go so far Seriously though, he hated me. Right before he left (he quit last week) he wrote up this screed on why I was a horrible employee, didn't know shit, etc. Hands it to the C-Level folks above him, and now they are trying to run me out on a rail. My new boss doesn't want me to go. My co-workers don't want to see me go. But the C-Level folks? Well a manager said it, they believe it and that settles it.
So tomorrow I am quitting my job of 6 months. I really can't do any other action: if I stay I fight an uphill battle every day. If I leave I get a package for 30 days. Chances are no matter how hard I would work, no matter what I did, after the 30 days from last week - they would have shitcanned me anyway.
Let's hope I find a better job. Let's hope I find A job. I have kids. I have a mortgage.
I suppose I should be more angry, but I'm just tired. Tired and defeated. Ready to roll the credits on this whole thing...

1. I think that's the incorrect course of action...especially if the new manager wants you to stay. The solution is much simpler...tell the new guy that if he wants to keep you, he's going to have to go to bat for you and state in official channels that he disagrees with the previous manager's assessment.
Better still for you if he points out that they're taking the judgement of a guy who just quit on them without notice over a current employee with a clean HR file.

2. Can't get any satisfaction sticking it in their faces?
I hate the passive aggressive crap you get from "superiors", stay and make them miserable. Plus, times are hard.

3. I wish I could - its a choice of either 30 days of work or 30 days of no work
Doesn't matter

Wow. Six months and they already hate you. Congratulations.
I've been here six months and most of these folks don't even know my name.
I call BS.
I tried to recreate a timeline, because his 6 months unemployment/6 months employed didn't jibe with my memory. I wanted to go back to his numerous posts that showed him getting fired and then drunk for days relatively recently.
So, I went over there and used the search for "Lost Job Drinking Drunk Fired" and my internet broke from all the returns. I have to sweep up now.
These people have more employment issues than anyone I've ever seen! Even if your personality was like sandpaper if you do your job better than anyone else they're not going to fire you. If you were all that your current supervisor would go talk to the c-level people and tell them he needs you. Lame!

Another DUmmy had to pee in the cup.
There was an employee that was hired here on Thursday. Monday morning, I got an email telling me that she had quit and I needed to come and pick up the computer that had been ordered for her. Same thing happened last month with another employee.
Why do people do this? It's not like jobs are readily available unless you have years of experience or some speciality that someone will pay big bucks for.
Because they get almost as much sitting on their asses for 99 weeks.
Scoobie was telling me her replacement had been hired on a Monday and had called in to quit by Wednesday.

**** it. They won, they won. We lost, they won.
It's over
It's ****ing hopeless
The economy is going to crash again, the US dollar won't be worth the paper it's printed on, and we will all be soon out of work, unless we're willing to work for $3 an hour, no breaks and lots of unpaid overtime.
They won. The rat bastards cheated and they won.
We're ****ed.

Also, just a couple of days ago he said he was sitting at the computer, high. A few weeks ago he said he was going to attempt to get off morphine. I just don't know.
The things you guys are saying about people starting Wednesdays and quitting on Mondays just kind of shock me. I don't get the flakiness. I knew a guy who started on a Monday, and had quit by lunchtime. He had 3 kids and a stay-at-home wife, too. WTF? :???:
Can't get unemployment in most cases for quitting or being fired for cause.
I've seen similar things happen when they get a callback on a better job, and it turns out they just took the position with the organization to cover them in case it fell through. Usually more than a day, but timing in that situation is purely coincidental.I didn't consider that. You're probably correct since these were relatively low-level administrative and customer service jobs.
Surprisingly enough, there are some states which will give it to you anyway. Most of which are liberal shithole states.

Maybe someone can explain what a C-level is, because I've never heard that term.I'm assuming it means Corporate, but I could be wrong. Since coach and Cigarette Girl started speaking Eye-tie, there's been a lot of stuff around here I don't understand.
This thread pisses me off.DUmmie is using "stress" as a scapegoat. Just an excuse to "not wake up in the morning and go to work".
You have a mortgage and kids to support and yet you're quiting your "down grade" job? What the hell? I don't care how much your job sucks, KEEP WORKING. You need the money to support your family, idiot. I don't get it. Why? Why would you do that? This is a DUmmie. Why even bother trying to figure out their mentality.

Shouldn't the Anti-Marijuana types admit they're going to lose this battle?
More and more smokers every day
More and more casual acceptance
They are a dwindling minority, and they, like ****wad Carrie Nation, should realize they've been bested and they're on the wrong side of history?
Who quits a job without having another job lined up already?

It is all good, lord
Your rectal cavity definitively closed, and may you never know the relief that comes from in.
You can go to Bablyon.com for a quick translation, GOBUCKS. Here's what it did with Frank's right there.Actually, having gone to high school when Latin was still a subject studied by nearly everyone who aspired to higher education, coach's most recent Euroquote was on the frayed edge of my ability to understand.
Good Lord!! :-)
