Title: Union workers march in MI, threats of peace ensue.
Post by: Mike220 on April 14, 2011, 12:09:57 PM
Not quite sure what the MI governor has against the middle class, but if the unions are pissy about it, must be a good thing for them.

Thousands of union workers swarm Capitol in protest
12:54 PM, Apr. 13, 2011
BY CHRIS CHRISTOFF
DETROIT FREE PRESS LANSING BUREAU CHIEF

LANSING – Several thousand union workers from around Michigan have gathered already for a mass demonstration expected to attract thousands to protest state budget and tax plans they say are unfair to the middle class.

It could be the largest rally yet at the Capitol, which has been host to more than a half dozen, largely organized by unions and AARP Michigan.

About 20 of Rochester Hills' 110 unionized city workers took a bus to join the rally, all members of American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Local 2491. Local president Jeff Fox said none have ever attended a protest event in Lansing, but they feel they and their city is threatened by such actions as the new law that gives emergency financial managers sweeping authority in fiscally troubled cities and school districts, including the ability to nullify employee union contracts.

“We’re protesting the state’s the governor’s new laws that force communities to follow the rules set down here in Lansing, instead of letting our communities negotiate with us to get what they need and get what we need,” said Fox, who held a sign on a stick that read, “Legislators, Stop the Attack on the Middle Class.”

A few months ago, I would have figured this new DUmbass would be chiseling his own pizza.  But now...  I'm guessing he'll be a mod before too long.

1. We have to translate this action into a National General Strike

and make Washington DC the center of protest and demononstrations simultaneously.

I'm listening to Obama's speech right now, and I want to puke. He sounds like Bush.

However, I really brought this thread over for this post.

4. Not that I disagree, but a general strike is an "all in"

type of proposition. You make it HURT or you don't do it at all. That means you force EVERYBODY to strike even if they don't want to. You block their way to work, you occupy factories and shops (corporate shops, not Mom and Pops), you block streets and roads with bodies, cars, etc. In short, you do everything you can short of violence to SHUT THE ECONOMY DOWN!

And yes, you also use the day to demonstrate your displeasure in the streets, EVERYWHERE, including DC.

A general strike is SERIOUS business.

Please DUmbass, try this. Because we know when you and your union ilk get involved, violence ain't far behind. I foresee this not ending well for you.

Tennessee Communist says "this summer."  And he has high hopes for blue states.  Not much he can do, however, in his own red state hell.  Finals are coming up, you know.

2. almost all the comments at the site
are anti union. The "you're lucky to even have a job" mentality. Amazing.

Oh, good.  Time for a stroll.

From your lips to God's ear.  All I ask is that they turn off all the security cameras that day.

If we can come up with a 'dozer, you suppose we could interest IHOP in some more "Smelly Hippy Short Stacks"?

To hell with the burial.  Buzzards gotta eat, too.

I'll have my snowplow on that day, just like Woody Harrelson in "Zombieland"   :-)

Hey, DUmbass, I have something I want to show you:

That, mouth-breather, is a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 Dualie.  The exact same type that I drive every day, right down to the color and tires.

Do you see the size of that big, chrome bumper?  If you and your heathen friends decide you're going to block my way in to my place of employment because you're throwing a ****ing tantrum, the bumper of my truck will be the last thing you ever see.

I promise.

If I can push that big bitch through an open field that has 2 1/2 feet of snow in it, your hippie ass won't even be a bump.

Think real hard before you even attempt something like an "all in" proposition that will place you in between a man and how he feeds his family - especially in a country where the citizens are hardwired to resist anyone forcing anything on them and gun ownership is a right.

So here we go. 5% of the population going to Lansing to keep the rest of us paying their premiums.

Sorry, not gonna work anymore

5% of the population, only 0.1% of those actually doing any work.

The protesters must take a 15 minute break from protesting every two hours.  :rotf: :rotf:

I'm glad you have the 2007...they really screwed the trucks up in 2010 and the 2011 has a fuel injector in the tail pipe to save the planet....

According to Diesel Power Magazine, there are delete mod kits for the cat pee exhaust system.

Buy it in a heart-beat.

The only need I have for a crew cab dualie right now is to put my ass in it and drive.  I've always wanted one and when my Suburban got stolen, I found this one in great shape and for almost 10K under book.

I couldn't resist.

I'll stick with my '88 for as long as I can keep it running.  Totally old school: no computer, no fuel rail, no blue mist injection, no converter, no particulate filter, no dyed-fuel sensor, etc.

Just an injector pump and glow plugs.

Does yours have a manual or an automatic?  Call me old-fashioned, but there is something about having an automatic behind a diesel engine that seems almost blasphemous to me.

But I'll still "stick" with my ZF 5-speed.
