WI School Board Punishes Teachers Who Called In Sick During Protests
http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/04/wi-school-bo...
Tuesday night, the Hudson, Wisconsin Board of Education announced punishments for teachers who called in sick on February 18, forcing their schools to close, at the height of the protests over Gov. Scott Walker's anti-union measure.
According to The Hudson Star-Observer Board president Barb VanLoenen read a resolution, which passed unanimously, announcing unpaid suspensions of up to 15 days. All the teachers will receive letters of reprimand and a warning will be added to their personnel files. The longer suspensions were issued to teachers "who encouraged colleagues to call in sick and who conducted or discussed union business or talked to the media on district property."
Deputy Superintendent Nancy Sweet said more details about the number of teachers in each category and what the district's investigation uncovered would be available at a later time.

What vindictive asswipes.

4. It'll end when
the repukes no longer exist. I know their plan is to wipe out the left, but I'm not going anywhere, anytime soon. I will fight them tooth and nail.
No we don't want to wipe out the left, we need at least one or 2 left in order to showcase in the Smithsonian.

Smithers, release the hounds.

Wow. Imagine that. Expecting professionals to show up for work, and actually punishing them when they don't! I'm quite surprised that the school board actually did the right thing here. It would be even cooler if they added a day or two on to the school year to make up for the lost time.
And, by the way, I thought the DUmmies were the ones who talk about how "hard" teachers work "for the children."
lol.
If you're doing it for the kids, show the hell up to work. Calling in "sick" as a political protest isn't exactly putting the little ankle-biters first.
For the record, I'm a teacher. It sure as hell isn't coal mining. There's not even any heavy lifting!

Any news on whether or not the Doctors were disciplined for handing out fake notes to Teachers?

None that I've seen yet, but a guy can hope, can't he?

The only thing it will take to destroy the left is a thinking, civil society.

Both right and fair, good for the school board. The teachers are lucky to not be terminated....they would be in the private sector. They lied in order to f*ck their employer, the taxpayers and the children were hardest hit.

Thanks Freeper, for giving me such a nice start to my day. :-) I'm surprised the board did this as well, and I'm surprised there's only 7 responses at the DUmp so far.
So, I went to TPM to see what the DUmmies there said. Here's an exchange:

Not paying workers their full salaries sounds very Republican and not very biblical:
You must pay them their wages each day before sunset because they are poor and are counting on it. If you don't, they might cry out to the LORD against you, and it would be counted against you as sin.

Oooo. That's a good one. I wasn't familiar with that passage but will be using it extensively in the future, I'm sure.
Thanks!
Sunday school for DUmmies. The poor starving, shivering teachers! DUmpster diving for their daily bread...wearing cardboard shirtboxes for shoes.

They wanna get all Biblical and stuff? How about St. Paul? 2 Thessalonians 3:10:
"In fact, when we were with you, we instructed you that if anyone was unwilling to work, neither should that one eat."

If I called in sick to protest something, I'd probably get fired. Unless of course I pre-arranged to take the time off with my boss, which I'm sure the Dem idiots in Wisconsin didn't do.

In WI collective bargaining for PEUs was a privilege but strikes were always illegal. That's why they were playing sick; they were full cognizant of the fat they were breaking the law from the beginning.

We need PCintern to clean up after us. Some do have a value.

And they illegally pulled students out of class without parental notice or consent to be used as political props.

That almost sounds like kidnapping.

Last I heard, there were investigations happening. I think a couple people had their names pulled off the U of W website or something.

A couple of high school girls, God bless their little hearts, were against this and went out and videotaped their interaction with the protesters. Wish I could find that video again.

It was educational for the students to see adults treating authority with contempt, defacing the capitol building, defrauding their employers, and in general acting like savages. Now they have a better understanding of how unionized labor behaves.

I'm waiting for other school boards/districts to follow suit. Don't think it will happen though.
