They marched around a little. They all spoke Chinese. They thought it was an easy path to US Citizenship.
They called him their "Supreme Commander" & they paid extra money for a higher rank.
As proof, he took them all to the USS Midway. They were really impressed. :rotf:
LOS ANGELES – A Chinese man was arrested for creating a fake US Army unit and convincing immigrants that joining the squad was a path to citizenship,
Yupeng Deng, 51, allegedly gave his recruits military uniforms, had them parade in a Los Angeles suburb and took them to the decommissioned USS Midway aircraft carrier, which is a museum in San Diego.
Deng charged more than 100 fellow Chinese nationals a fee of between $300 and $450 to join the fake Army unit, according to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office.
He called his bogus squad the US Army/Military Special Forces Reserve unit, or MSFR for short, and he gave himself the lofty title of supreme commander, prosecutors said...Aside from telling recruits that belonging to the unit was a path to US citizenship, Deng also urged them to pay him cash for higher military rank, according to prosecutors."

Whatever else one may think both appear to be clever ideas to shear the flock. PT Barnum would be proud. :yahoo:

But of course Sparky, so are the people that buy their way into politics, the little guy down the street that bribes a zoning commissioner, hell it does not take allot of money to get into the works of a politicion.
A few thousand here or there will come to the attention of small town politics. Need your house rewired, call in a few non licensed electricians and slip the inspector $500.00 bucks and add another $500 to his reelection champagne. Darn a $4000 dollar job done for under $2,000.
This guy with the fake platoon was just another wheeler dealer. In our area I have found that there are lots of this stuff going on. Ask me about the Indonesians that come here with a sponsor they have to pay $10,000 to for getting them into the country legal.
Sort of slavery if you ask me. These sponsors will pay for the person to get here and guarantee they get a temp card to work. Once here the workers have to find their own housing and perhaps work 2 jobs or 3 to survive and pay back the $10,000 to their sponsors.---------On it goes if the worker cannot afford to pay the sponsor, then the Spencer turns them into immigration and has them deported. ---a good lesson for others that may want to stop paying.
Do not get me talking on the sex trade here at this time---boggles the mind on what people will do to each other----They make the WBC look like babes in the woods.

With Vesta this could be all innuendo. Sure you want to go there?? :hammer: Then too you know what they say about people who talk about it a lot.
Then too with Vesta this could lead to a story of the Dragon Seed Restaurant where putting a quarter under your coffee cup could lead to an invite upstairs for some real Asian cuisine.
