Houston we've had a problem: 'Space City' snubbed in bid for retired space shuttle

I think it is purely political.

Some whacked out comments.

Houston was not the home of the SS. Please stop the whining. There are larger issues , so take a breath,
and start facing the future.

Houston was Mission Control. Stop talking out of your ass.  :bird:

Good grief, stop whining already. The shuttles should be in places where they will be seen by the most people and serve as educational assets to inform people about the space program. Houston should get no special claim simply because the space center is here; arguably that weakens the case because there's already a huge resource here.

The shuttle doesn't "belong" to Houston, it belongs to the United States, and it shouldn't be handed out like a prize for being the place where it originated.

More people will see shuttled in the Smithsonian and CA Science Center than would ever have seen them in Houston.

Houston is part of the United States. NYC or CA are not really part of America. Sounds like someone from there.

Texas elected officials haven't exactly hidden their disdain for the administration; if politics is the root cause of our not getting a shuttle, blame lies equally between the parties. Our idiot governor, and our congressmen and women who spend their time dumbing down the state and declaring we don't need the feds for anything and want them to quit meddling in our affairs... oooh but now we want a shuttle! Hey guys, give us a shuttle! Hey JSC has mission control! Hey, guys? Guys?

Seriously, Obama is not the only one to blame here. I'm very sad we didn't get a shuttle; it would certainly seem obvious we deserve one. Shame that politics ruined our chance.

More leftist bitterness.  :mental:

For Christ's sake people, get over it! This is hardly political. I'm no democrat, but have sense enough to know that Obama has bigger fish to fry than deciding who gets a shuttle in their city and who doesn't.

You know what is more off putting than this presidency? People like you who whine, scream and make up issues to blame on it!

Nothing will ever get done or get better with the conservative blinders on. Libs AND right-wingers need to effing cool it.

Sounds like a lib in disguise.

Quit complaining Texas. You guys got the Columbia in 2003!

Columbia was destroyed you ****tard!  :bird:

Politics at it's worst. Every single state that is getting one of the 4 shuttles voted for Obama. Thousands of us at JSC who have worked on the shuttle program for 30 years just got screwed. It's nothing short of disrespectful. It would have been nice for my grandchildren and the many other fine people here in Texas to have seen a shuttle retired here...and to understand (first hand) what a wonderful, inspiring machine it was.

I believe we have Rick Perry thank for this. He has consistently spit in the face of Washington, D.C. since being governor.

How is Rick Perry a conservative?

Yup.  Started breaking up over Eastern Califunny and scattered most of the debris over New Mexico and Texas.

I was kind of surprised that neither Houston nor the USAF Museum in Dayton got one (Or anywhere in Florida for that matter), and instead they put two of them within daytrip driving distance of each other (NYC and DC).

I was disappointed that Florda didn't get one.  Instead, they all went to big blue cities that voted for Obama in 2008.

Besides, its not like anybody goes to Florida. ::)

Florida is getting Atlantis at the KSC.

Im actually a little surprised that one didn't go to a muslim nation so that they can feel good about themselves.

Ah, my mistake, I only caught three of them announced on the news this morning, I must've missed KSC's.

"When people from Paris, Beijing, Tokyo and Amsterdam start saying they want to go to Houston, maybe then they'll get a shuttle," Schumer told the Daily News. "I'd say to Texas, don't mess with New York."

What an arrogant dick! What a small minded person. Never been west of the Hudson. You would think 9/11 would humble him. So just don't learn.  ::) :mental:
