So..the republicans are going to demonize Planned Parenthood

Because...they are THE ONLY REASON nobody is going to get paid.

Democrats only care about abortion--they don't care about anything else and they are willing to shut down the government for it.

This is what is making the rounds.

I don't see a cogent response for this from our side. It makes me sick. And in the end, win or lose, WOMEN will pay the price because regardless of how things go down, the damage to PP has been done.

1. really?

I thought that the GOP was going along with the "spending cuts" excuse. I don't see the GOP gaining much traction on this issue and even some ultra-conservative Senators like Toomey and Coburn (hell hath frozen over!) are starting to publicly question having this be part of the budget battle. Hang in there.

5. I just heard the talking points spewed by some vicious evil republican woman on the radio

1. PP gets $1,000,000 a day in funding.

2. PP showed a $67 million profit last year (even though they are non-profit)

3. Abortions are paid for with federal funds.

4. There are THOUSANDS of other entities that offer free medical services.

Sigh.

Nobody rebutted ANY of this.

What's there to rebut?

8. # 3 is a bald faced lie...

And I'm willing to guess the others are as well.

Ok smart people at DU splain this to me. I'm one of them slow witted, dumb assed tea baggers.
If there is no federal funding going to abortions now,(point 3 being a bold faced lie), then what is the harm if the GOP puts in the bill a ban on abortion funding?
Other than being redundant how does it affect anything?

That's what I was wondering, myself.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only knuckle dragging tea bagger that isn't nuanced enough to figure that out.

There you go with the "facts" again Freeper. You know the DUmbasses and liberals don't deal with the facts.
They only distort the facts.

Both sides have gotten kind of far out in the hype on this, Conservatives have pretty drastically overstated how much of the funding goes for abortion, and Liberals have done their best to label the other side as crazed killers of women.

However, the problem with giving PP money but just telling them they can't use it for abortion is that money is fungible, like a commodity, which means PP can take non-federal money out of something donors pay for now and move it in to fill the financial hole in their abortion operations, and fill the hole it left elsewhere with federal grant money.
