We need to frame this as the "Republican shutdown"
or the "Republican ideological shutdown"
Is anyone in our party trying to do that?

Go right ahead and do so, just like in 95 when Clinton vetoed the budget and the dems blamed the GOP it didn't hurt the GOP a bit come election day.

4. I'm aware of that. They need to marry the two words
Republican and shutdown together like horse and carriage, love and marriage, soup and sandwich. It needs to be a mantra. That's how framing works.

That worked so well for you clowns before. It might have a shot at working this time IF your party actually had even tried to submit a budget for this year instead of playing games and spending money like a drunken sailor on leave
-
Anytime you idiots go on about "having to frame" something (which is all the time) it is an admission you are wrong headed and the public doesn`t support it.

It helped to get Clinton re-elected in '96, and it destroyed Newt as a national politician. A shutdown now, considering how it will be reported and perceived, will be devastating to the Republican effort in the Congress, and a huge political advantage for the jug-eared vacationing muslim. Boehner needs to find a way to avoid a shutdown, and bide time until the 2012 election. If he can do that, the GOP can gain the Senate, and wield real power. Right now, he's holding a losing hand. Expect an unending series of TV segments on CNN, PMSNBC, Shep Smith, the networks, and all the leftist mainstream press, of starving children, and crying women blaming Boehner for their empty refrigerator. The Kenyan and the Senate dems want a shutdown more than anything, and the GOP is falling into their trap.

What got Clinton re-elected was Newt caving. When Newt started to believe the MSM bullshit and gave in, he handed Clinton the 96 election on a silver platter and completely derailed the 94 elections.
Big differences this time, though. Obama isn't Clinton, the debt is too high, the demoshits have way overplayed their hand, the Republicans are being adults, and the MSM does not have the clout any longer to make their shit stick.
If Boehner even comes close to caving, all the TEA Party work will have been for nothing and the Republican Party will return to the squishy-moderate Republican't Party. Either we hold fast now or we get to start back at square one with Obama riding an almost sure victory into a second term.

That Time or Newsweek magazine cover during the government shutdown that said something like "The Gingrich who stole Christmas" didn't help much either. It gave the media a convenient target.

H5!!!!
I love how the DUmmies think they have any sort of power to "frame" anything anyway. I'm sure the MSM continually monitors the DUmp to tap into the pulse of those idiots.

Last time people had less resources to get their information from. That's a huge difference. The LSM can't get away with the kinds of crap they used to.

Good one Chris.

Obama publicly threatened to veto a bill to keep the government running. If he vetoes it, he owns the shutdown.
-
Silly primitives. They'll reach an agreement soon and all will be forgotten. This is just a tiny squirmish in the grand scheme of things. The big battle will be the 2012 budget.

I suspect this 'Government shutdown' will result in nothing more than giving a few people the weekend off that would have otherwise had to work and the very worst. Hold me !!!1!!! Imma-skeered !!!!1!

Actually, this is one of the few times the Republicans have played chess while the Democrats are playing checkers. Coming out with a stopgap bill that would fund the pentagon through September, thus guaranteeing military pay regardless of what happens was brilliant. The American people love their troops and realize they're now stretched way too far in 3 theaters, one directly the result of commander of useless Nobel Peace prizes given because a bunch of socialists in Europe hoped for change. Every time there's one of those surveys about who the American people trust the most the troops come out on top. Way on top.
And this time, Obama put his foot in his mouth saying he would veto the bill because it's a distraction. Harry Reed is having a cow over not funding abortions which is evidently the hold up for the main budget bill. As the press hangs on every word of the big 0 and the left, both have been reported via their press conferences and interviews. We're a practical people and have our priorities straight. We cut out things we'd like to have, that might make things easier or more comfortable to pay for the necessities. Both of these fall into that category. Not funding the troops is their biggest mistake because most people are paying attention now since the LSM has made it an issue in the hopes of bringing down the Tea Party.

The shutdown doesn't matter right now, but the LSM and the Donks have just squirted Miracle-Gro all over the Tea Party in Boehner's caving to the Dems.
