Ask me anything.
-
Did you add them correctly?
-
Did you claim the tools your husband bought in 2010?
-
Do you now or have you ever worked for GE?
-
How much are you getting back? :fuelfire:
O-)

Ha. Last year we paid someone $400 to do them because we had the move plus the two state deal. This year wasn't complicated so I used turbo tax. The only issue outstanding is what kind of stock my husband sold last November (it's incentive stock but he gets two types and I don't know which kind it is). I entered it as ISO but im not sure so i have to wait for him to call me (he is in New York right now) We paid over $16k in AMT with a total tax of around $80k (we owe $11k). Much better than last year where we paid a total of over $100k in federal taxes.
We are getting back about $5,700 in CA state taxes if nothing changes, I haven't looked over either return yet to look for mistakes. I'm sure the CA refund is because the state decided to take an interest free loan from their taxpayers. They are trying to keep it this year too.
Oh...to top it all off I hit my upper left lip on the granite counter in my kitchen yesterday. Don't ask me how, I'm lucky I didn't break a tooth. Well now my lip and the area above the pink part of my lip is black and blue. When I say black I mean BLACK. I look like my husband punched me.

LOL that would have been nice. I probably spent more on my crafting crap though.

Is there still a $300 tax credit for the withholding thing?

Withholding thing?
-
Oh and if I remember correctly we owe a $65 penalty for underpaying.
-
Did you cheat and will you soon be a part of Obama's cabinet? :-)

Never, not even on our charitable contributions. I'm sure I would go to jail of I actually cheated.

Withholding thing?
Last year there was the "making work pay" where they took less from withholding and they gave everybody who worked full time a $300 credit to cover it.

We don't get any credits because my husband makes too much.
-
I got mine done yesterday. The guy used to work in my home area and we got visiting about changes. He mentioned the "making work work" thingy is $400 this year and it didn't get extended so it will not be available next year.
I know he's very talented at bovine nutrition, I hope he's as good at doing taxes correctly.
-
If the work credit applies this year, then I can break even on my taxes. If not, I owe a few hundred bucks.
Did you have to fill out a separate worksheet for the credit? I thought it was already on the 1040 form for 2010.
-

My husband gets the same deal and he's explained it to me a gazillion times and I still don't understand it. But he does the taxes, so the only thing I concern myself with is how to spend it.
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

My CPA filled out a Schedule M for me. That is the work credit.
-
That's what I thought. I used one of those e-file things and put in for the work credit.

That's what you get for being a Republican. :-)
Only Dems are allowed to be tax cheats, or cheat on their spouses. :whatever:
And, I hope your lip feels better soon, BEG. :(

Poor BEG, sorry about your lip. And you can't even blame domestic violence. :-)
I only asked about the adding thing because I used to help my friends out with their personal taxes. Since I don't work as much in tax any longer, I don't do it. But by far the most common error was in adding/subtracting. This was before the more common versions of TurboTax, etc. were around.

Did you check the box to donate to the presidential campaign fund?

Ok, this is going to make me look really idiotic. I was kind of biting on my upper lip (why I don't know) while I was emptying the dishwasher. I have two drawer type dishwashers, one on each side of the sink. There is a large deep drawer under each dishwasher (which I love, they pull all the way out). I took a large Pyrex bowl out of the dishwasher to put away in the draw and when I bent down to open the drawer I hit my upper left lip on the edge of the grantie counter top. I don't know how I physically did it when I think about it. It was probably a good thing I had my upper lip over my top teeth or I surely would have lost at least one. :o

I'm not giving these jerks anything else.
I did write a check yesterday for Bush's library. Laura personally wrote to me asking for my contribution. :-) I gave $50 so my name will be permanently on their registry. I wish I could dedicate it to Obama or DU but alas that wasn't an option.
