Title: Lib at Slate.com praises Ryans plan!

You read that right. No sarc tags...

Wow

If the GOP gets behind his proposals in a serious way, it will become for the first time in modern memory an intellectually serious party—one with a coherent vision to match its rhetoric of limited government. Democrats are within their rights to point out the negative effects of Ryan's proposed cuts on future retirees, working families, and the poor. He was not specific about many of his cuts, and Democrats have a political opportunity in filling in the blanks. But the ball is now in their court, and it will be hard to take them seriously if they don't respond with their own alternative path to debt reduction and long-term solvency.

There are, of course, shots at the GOP--he's a lib, after all--but some of those shots are pretty true.

Are the scales coming of the eyes of the liberal media?????

Today's WSJ main editorial was also very laudatory, but that's halfway expected.

The central point worth mentioning is that the Dems have no place to run and hide now. The 600 lb. gorilla in the room - Medicare - has been semi-exposed now.

I say "semi-exposed" because even Ryan isn't stupid enough to go after the 1,200 lb. rhino in the room -- Social Security.

That one will come later. Or should come later.

If Ryan's plan has a ghost of a chance of succeeding.

With Dingy Harry still dropping his turds in the Senate, things may not happen real well. But the Dems can't run and hide any more.

A viable Republican plan is on the table and looks head and shoulders better than anything Lord Zero or his minions have done.

From the article:
Quote
Medicare covers doctor and hospital bills at 100 percent, regardless of income.

I don't think that is a true statement. I might be incorrect. Anybody know? Too lazy to read thru the gobbaldy-gook at medicare's website.

First the NYT ran not 1 but 3 editorials praising Ryan's budget. Granted, they claimed it had its faults but they all noted the GOP was now the intellectual adults in the room.

Then came the Slate article noted in the OP.

Now WaPo piles on: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/fact-checker/post/nancy-pelosis-absurd-math-on-senior-citizens-losing-their-meals/2011/04/06/AFUf51rC_blog.html?hpid=z1

They're done. We won.
