I need DU's help in winning a blog contest!
Many of you old-timers might remember me from back in the day where I would post regularly during those dark years known as the Bush Era.
You might also remember that I was arrested for taking pictures of cops, then started a blog called Photography is Not a Crime where I have been documenting First Amendment abuses against photographers for the past four years.
Since my first arrest, I was arrested a second time for photographing cops. I beat both cases in court.
Last year, I was assaulted by a security guard on the Miami Metrorail because I entered the station with a video camera. I am now suing that security company.
I've also risked arrest when I shot videos testing and educating police and TSA officials on the policy of photographing security checkpoints (we are allowed, but they don't seem to know it).
And I did the same in testing the photography policy in front of a federal courthouse in Miami last year.
Obviously, the right to take photos of public officials in public is a very serious matter to me. It's the main reason why I haven't posted much on DU since launching the blog. As I stated in a May 2, 2007 DU post, it was "my new mission in life."
Now I need DU's help in winning the South Florida Sun Sentinel Best of Blogs Awards Contest. I won the contest last year with the help of DU.
Without a doubt, DU is most powerful voting bloc on the internet.
All you need you to do is click here and register, either through email, Facebook or Twitter, then vote for Photography is Not a Crime in each of the following categories; News, Politics and Photography.
You can vote once in each of the three categories daily until Monday at 10 a.m. EST, which is when the contest ends.
In fact, you are encouraged to vote once in each of the three categories daily because it will increase my chances of winning. You only need to register once (and yes, I know it's a pain in the ass).
My goal is to win the Best Overall Blog Award as I did last year, which happens when you accumulate the most votes in all categories.
The victory is purely for bragging rights. I will also win a $100 gift certificate from Target, which I will give to my mom as I did last year.

They're boycotting Target, too? I was in a WalMart this afternoon to buy some Koch brothers paper towels, and stopped in the electronics department to admire Megyn Kelly on Fox News. On the way home, I bought a sandwich at a Chik-fil-A, which was open since it's not Sunday, and then swung by Hobby Lobby to check out the sale items. If I'd known Target was on the DUmp blacklist, I could have gone there, since it's closer to my house. But, no, I'm driving a humongous V-8 SUV so I'd rather travel a little farther, to sort of let the beast run free.

Yeah, I think it has something to do with gay marriage.

Something about the company donating to some candidate that disagreed with something that some of the DUmmies did or didn't like. Something like that. :-)

It's like the high school kid with the protesting commies in the Wisconsin statehouse. A TV reporter asked him why he was there, and he said, "To stop a dude from doing something."
