I made my bosses head explode the other day.....

I work for a large company that is deathly afraid of Unions getting in...in fact if you bring it up
you could be disciplined or even fired. That is the perception they want you to believe. Granted though
we have good benefits and a grievance system if needed so a union would be very unpopular with most
of the employees, even me. We don't think we need one....yet.

So...when my manager said to another employee in my presence that "I think unions should just go away
and die!" I just had to chime in with you realize that unions are responsible for most of the benefits
we have here, and our vacation time and the fact that your daughter is not working here with us, she
just couldn't understand. I said historically speaking the unions of old created the middle class that
we are a part of today, she again looked at me like I was a 7 headed hydra. Then I added the big bomb
that made her head explode...."if you didn't get your history lessons and news from Fox news you
might be able to talk about these subjects more intelligently." She stammered for a couple of seconds
as if trying to find a pre-programmed talking point response but failing to connect the dots in her mind,
then said "I just can't talk to you now" and had to leave the office.

I was merely trying to give a historical perspective of the good things unions have given our great
society and she nearly shut down as if saying "does not compute....does not compute".

Luckily I had my annual review the week before this and got 100% in all categories,
so now I have to see how long her memory is....until next year then..............

1. A collision between right-wing fantasies and reality can be rough for them.

The general pattern is that when conservatives are confronted with proof that what they are saying is flatly wrong, they "double down", believing the false story more strongly than they did before it was proven false. (They also immediately change the subject.) Your manager apparently had not pickled quite long enough in the Fox "News" brine, and was momentarily aware of the contradiction in her thinking. Walking away is equivalent to changing the subject. I doubt that your statements will have any long-term effect (except possibly on your career prospects!).

3. Facts can be so messy.

They sure can be, that is why DU does not allow conservative views.
That is why there is such a huge effort to silence the right. When we present facts it makes libs feel insecure about their own beliefs.

4. When threatened with termination,

the proper response is

"I was looking for a job when I got this one."

And they wonder why they can't find jobs.

HENRY FORD: Why I Favor Five Days' Work With Six Days' Pay

The automobile manufacturer in this authorized interview tells Mr. Crowther why he reduced the working week in Ford plants all over the world to forty hours with no cut in pay*

By SAMUEL CROWTHER

JUST twelve years ago, Henry Ford made an announcement which, for the moment, turned industry upside down and brought workmen by the tens of thousands storming for jobs. His announcement was that thereafter the minimum wage in his industries would be five dollars for a day of eight hours. At that time a good wage was two dollars and a half for a day of ten hours. Now he makes another announcement far more important than the one which then went round the world.

"We have," he said, "decided upon and at once put into effect through all the branches of our industries the five day week. Hereafter there will be no more work with us on Saturdays and Sundays. These will be free days, but the men, according to merit, will receive the same pay equivalent as for a full six day week. A day will continue to be eight hours, with no overtime.

Sure...I'm sure someone would love to take that job from you.  I do what my boss says and I don't argue because I know if I lose my job, I'll be unemployed for quite some time.

Seeing what the unions in the States have been doing lately I wouldn't blame them for not wanting a union to get in.

All in all another poorly done story from DU.

A very poorly done bouncy tale. Not even the tiniest gleam of authenticity.
You should expect immediate unemployment if you go nadin on your boss.

So, the primitive works in a non-union shop, has an annual performance review, which if the idiot has done his job in a somewhat capable manner should result in a promotion or increase in pay.  All that without going out on strike.  Bet he gets vacation every year too and has health insurance.  All without a shop steward.

That's funny. Most DUmmies don't know what it means to have and hold a job.

I made my bosses head explode the other day.....

I actually took a bath, washed my hair, and brushed my teeth before going to work. I showed up on time. Then I worked very hard all day without bitching and complaining. Plus I was polite to everyone. I even went all day without fabricating a Bouncy Tale.

I'm sure the above modification in red would make the employer's head explode.

I kept waiting for the second boss. It's "boss's", DUmbass. Why is the third "s" so scary?
I would not hire this DUmmy to be my latex salesman.

If this were not a complete fable, my "Spidey Sense" tells me that the OP DUmbat will be getting the nastiest assignments from now on out. Perhaps, those errors that were forgiven or excused will not be treated so in the future.

Having received a few reviews and given many more, I have never seen a perfect review. There is always items up for improvement to assist the person to grow professionally.

So unless he works in a "Righ to work state" why is he all bothered about what his boss might do after being a jackwagon to him?
