Title: Lawmakers Say AARP Will Benefit From Healthcare Law It Lobbied For
Post by: Boudicca on March 30, 2011, 06:00:32 PM
Republican in Congress would like for the IRS to investigate the AARP's claim of being a tax-exempt organization.  It's about time.

NOT that I hold a grudge or anything against AARP for sending solicitation after solicitation letter to me, begging me to join their liberally biased organization from the moment I turned 48.  I can remember when retired person/senior citizen meant AT LEAST 55.  ****ers.  But then, it's all about the cash for them.

AARP lobbied for the new health care law and now it stands to profit, Republican lawmakers charged Wednesday as they called for the IRS to investigate whether the powerful interest group representing older Americans should be stripped of its federal tax exemption.

Three veteran GOP representatives released a report that estimates the seniors lobby could make an additional $1 billion over 10 years on health insurance plans whose sales are expected to pick up under the new law. They also questioned seven-figure compensation for some AARP

Either remove their tax exempt status or grant exemptions to other "for profit" businesses.  I think unions should also lose their exempt status also.

I think they should pay their fair share like everyone else does.  Oh, except for the dipshits scamming the system, which right now includes AARP.
