When thinking about casting the part of an elderly spinster from a small English village who solves crimes in her spare time, Jennifer Garner is not the first name that one would expect to come to mind.
But the glamorous 38-year-old Hollywood actress has just been announced to star in a Disney reboot about the much-loved heroine of Agatha Christie's novels.
The actress, best known for her roles as the catsuited superhero Elektra and in a slew of fluffy romantic comedies.

Blasphemy.
Disney sucks.

Betty White. O-)

Betty White. O-)
Slightly better, but she looks to robust. It needs someone who looks a tad frail.

Why couldn't they bring in, oh, I don't know....
Joanna Lumley? (I think she's hotter 'n hell, btw.)
Helen Mirren?
Judi Dench?

She could carry it off, though. She'd be great if they were doing a spoof of Miss Marple.

I LOVE Joanna Lumley, but not in that way.
Judi Dench would be good, I think.

Joanna's a deeper actress than she portrayed in AbFab. I think she's got the chops, but then again, so does Dame Judi.

hard to think of someone with a high enough profile, perhaps Maggie Smith?

Betty White would rock in that role! :hyper: ^5!

Nah.
You need a British actress to play that part. Betty is just too American.

I agree with you about Joanna, but I think Judi just looks more the part for me.

Oh yeah, Maggie Smith. HI5, bijou, you jewel, you nailed it!
As for Mrs. Benjamin Affleck, YOU are not worthy to fill Ms. Marple's shoes and Ms. Christie is rolling over in her grave as we speak.
Hollywood, in general, totally blows if you're looking for authenticity. No offense, Chuck Norris, Gary Sinise, Hollywood NeoCon, et.al.

It's not a done deal yet? (http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2011/03/30/miss-marple-reboot-jennifer-garner/)

I certainly hope sane heads prevail. Unless she has a HELL of a makeup artist, Mrs. Affleck doesn't belong in a role more suited to someone her mom's age.
-
Disney sucks.
What was your first clue, Sherlock?
And yeah, always has since Michael Eisner took over.
Overblown fuggin rat.

Thank goodness, hope that's right. Perhaps there will be a rethink now Disney have seen the response to this.
