...at least to be old in... (http://www.topretirements.com/blog/great-towns/our-worst-states-to-retire-list.html/)
1. Illinois (PR). IL’s fiscal health could be the worst of any state, which is what tipped the scales. It has even borrowed money to fund its pension obligations. To be fair, however, we need to mention that IL does not tax pension or social security income, a definite plus for the state’s retirees.
Maybe not, but they seem to tax every ****ing thing else that dares to move, so there ya go.

Thank you, my friend, and to everyone else who's sent along their best wishes. :cheersmate: :-)

Caterpillar is seriously considering moving all of their operations out of this damned state.

That still won't be enough to make people vote the DemRats out of office.

There are 1000s of workers at Caterpillar. Other companies are also abandoning Illinois.
What really needs to occur is to have Cook County split off from Illinois to form its own state. The crooks from Cook County are the demoncraps that continue to destroy the state.

Reminds me, I gotta call my sister. She and hubby were supposed to have signed the paperwork on their home last Friday and were making tracks for Texas as soon as the new owners took over the mortgage. :-)

If I were Caterpillar, Id do like the gun/ammunition manufacturers have considered doing with states like Califunny: don't even so much as sell their stuff there.

Illinois is nothing more than California with shitty weather.
God, those people are SO screwed. How ****ed do you have to be to where ****ING WISCONSIN looks good?

FIFY Governor Christie had radio ads on here touting their tax rates.

Maybe it is the end of time.
Where did I put that extra Mayan calendar...

I been using mine as a coaster underneath my beer mug. It soaks up the condensation just fine, but I keep hearing these voices demanding blood instead. :hi5: :cheers1:

As a resident of Wisconsin, I would like to welcome Caterpillar to our fine state.

Recollect that WI has something else to recommend it these days, the absence of their Dimwit State Senators.

Unfortunately, they came back after the bill was passed.

Damn, I thought I'd seen a headline somewhere they were still gone, but it musta been my wishful imagination. But hey, WI STILL beats ILL because they've got a R governor.

Our neighbor did this yesterday. The house was on the market for 3+ years. Now they are gone, off to Spring, TX, where they bought a home about 2 years ago.
Now CAT has told their employees that the company is not leaving the state.

Might be a nice way of CAT* saying, "We ain't leaving.....we're just giving up, quitting."

I actually wish they would leave Illinois.
Chicago needs to be taught what it's like to be Detroit for a few years, and this would do the job nicely.
It would also teach the conservative-leaning farmers downstate that it just doesn't do anyone any good to sit there with your ****ing thumb up your ass every four years.

It ain't the farmers that are the problem so much as the gerrymandered districts downstate.

Illinois is the way it is because of Chicago. If you take Chicago out of Illinois, Illinois is conservative and largely rural.

And Peoria, East St. Louis and Springfield.

That sucks!
Fortunately, my sister is a retired Army LTC (Reserves) who will draw a pension check starting in 10 years and meanwhile her husband is a retired police officer, Reserve Warrant Officer and Social Security recipient, so they're good.

As a born and bred cheese-head, I agree. I live next-door in MN nowdays, but my heart is in WI.
Cheese curds, panfish and I'm right there!
Had some crappies just today caught right out in our nearby lake by some pals ice-fishing. Man, were they tasty! French fries and onion rings, also.
FRIED UP IN A HUGE CAST-IRON SKILLET - YUM!
