WASHINGTON (AP) — There may be less than meets the eye to President Barack Obama’s statements Monday night that NATO is taking over from the U.S. in Libya and that U.S. action is limited to defending people under attack there by Moammar Gadhafi’s forces.

In transferring command and control to NATO, the U.S. is turning the reins over to an organization dominated by the U.S., both militarily and politically. In essence, the U.S. runs the show that is taking over running the show.

And the rapid advance of rebels in recent days strongly suggests they are not merely benefiting from military aid in a defensive crouch, but rather using the multinational force in some fashion — coordinated or not — to advance an offensive.

Comparison of the President's assertions continued on The Blaze (http://www.theblaze.com/stories/aps-fact-check-hammers-obamas-speech/).

Yeah, once again the pResident's hold on reality is shown to be tenuous, at best. :whatever:

CNN is carrying a headline about him laying out a "Plan" for energy in his speech today.  Everything I've heard of it was more in the nature of a "Wish" than a "Plan," with a lot of gratuitous slaps thrown in at Palin, Bush, etc. in his condescending fake-folksy way.

he's now considering arming and supplying these so called rebels. but senior adviors warn "traces" of terrorists are being seen. from both Al-Qaeda and the Taliban which is probably closer to the truth.

U.S. NATO Commander Doesn't Rule Out Al Qaeda Presence in Libyan Rebels

Quote
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said after an international conference in London about Libya's future that there is no specific information about rebels linked to the terror group, but that the U.S. is "getting to know" the opposition.

getting to know the opposition gracey???

If he's "considering" it, you can damned well be sure that the first shipments have already landed in the "rebels" hot little, wife beating, goat molesting, honor killing hands.

I've said it before, but the fact they are pretending to know little or nothing about the rebel intentions despite having had not just sources but operators on the ground for at least a month means they know perfectly damn' well who and what the rebel leadership represents, and that it isn't good for us, but they're 'Hoping' for them to 'Moderate their views' if they owe us one.

This is a fundamentally stupid idea, since WE don't even treat people nicer for having helped us.  We have a long track record of being just as likely to **** over our erstwhile friends as our defeated enemies after a conflict.
