THE SPARKLING HUSBAND PRIMITIVE, #02 TOP PRIMITIVE OF 2010
Original message
Easy, satisfying, fun, supper
Start with an assortment of these . . . .
after which a picture of a package of something called cabbage and pork pot stickers
Line your bamboo steamer basket . . .
after which a picture of a couple of baskets
. . . . with leaf lettuce to keep the pot stickers from . . . well . . . sticking . . . .
after which a picture of lettuce
Place the frozen pot stickers on the lettuce and steam them for ten minutes or so.
Meanwhile, mix soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, and a few drops of sesame oil for a simple dipping sauce.
after which three pictures of nasty-smelling liquids in bottles
When the pot stickers are done, dip 'em and eat 'em.
Lots of people fry the steamed dumplings. We do, too, but this way is really, really easy.
No primitives at this campfire yet.
But it's now easy to see why the sparkling husband primitive's wife makes him use the bathroom in the basement.
Digested-and-processed cabbage is never pleasant-smelling.

Are you speaking of cooked cabbage or coldslaw, up here in Yankee land when we order a dinner of fried fish, clams or what not even chicken, we all ways get a small tub of coleslaw. Much like if one eats in Hawaii one gets a scoop of rice.

I love pork fried dumplings from the Chinese restaurant but they don't have cabbage in them.

Pot Stickers sometimes have cabbage in them....it's filler.
More likely to find them with cabbage in the frozen food section than in a restaurant.
Love pot stickers.

Chicken, pork, shrimp, and even vegetable "pot stickers" are all good.
But I knew them as gyoza or jiaozi before I ever heard of them being called pot stickers.
Guess that's what happens when you go where they're from. And while some folks steam them, most of the time I've had them it's fried/steamed. I make them with a bit of oil and water in a shallow pan. The oil sears and browns the bottom while the water boils off and steams them. Serve them with a little soy and rice vinegar mix, and maybe a little chili oil if you like them.
