Obama is going to Rio de Janeiro this weekend.
With everything going on, he is going to Rio to give a speech.
He could go to Wisconsin, Ohio, Michigan, Florida - but no, he is going to Rio.
I hate to say this, but Pat Buchanan just nailed it on msnbc. Obama is a spectator President.

The BOG monsters are out in full force in that thread, particularly 2 of them...Juniper Lea and the astoundingly stupid Seabeyond.
Juniper keeps saying over and over again (and you can just hear it in real life), "How long has this trip been on the calendar? How long??!!" Very shrill and strident. A real peach to be around, I'll bet.
As for the topic, I've come to the point where I smile and silently cheer with each report of a golf game, vacation, sports event and the like. That's just where I want him.

It's his "Yo, I'm white like you trip." He has lost so many white votes that he needs to get reelected that he's now trying to be our former white president.
He's going to Ireland to personally dig up his family roots. Don't we pay a "Presidential Biographer" (and office) to do things like that? I'm sure if he has any family roots over there that they would be glad to just dig them up and ship them to him thus eliminating any Obama weeds in Ireland.
So from now on you crackers must call him President O'Bama.

Need help with stats on Bush campaigning and vacation days

I wrote a letter to the editor for our local paper citing some stats that someone posted last week about the amount of time that Bush has taken for vacation and campaigning.
I sent this info to the editor and she wants to know the sources. Could someone help me out so I can get this info published.
It turned out that Bush works 6.5 hours per week was the bottom line!

If he doesn't go to Rio for *gasp!* a whole weekend!, will the Fukushima reactors cool off? Will the civil war in Libya end? Will the Republicans stop persecuting public unions? Why is he expected to sit nonstop at his desk in the White House (preferably with a catheter so he doesn't have to waste a single minute in the bathroom), not doing anything but monitoring crises, some of which he has no control over at all?
We do have other allies and interests in the world, some of which are in Latin America. There might be a very good reason for him to go there. In any event, the world won't end if he does, just like it didn't end when he spent 10 minutes on his NCAA picks.

I can keep doing this all day long BTW - I just wanted to stick with the BOG members in the referenced thread. The short of it is the primitives who attacked President Bush for going on vacations are defending Obama for going on vacations. DU loves them some hypocrisy. But we knew this already - now maybe some other primitives know this too.
