It has a fusion reaction many times the size of Earth, and it piddles around with shit that will kill it.

Look up at 12 pm and you will see our future. Just don't look directly at it. It's so bright!

We're sitting on a huge oil reserve, it's just in the sky.

Hey DUmmy if solar was a viable energy source right now, some evil corporation would have used it and made so much money you would want to tax them at 100%. DUmmies have no clue just how hard it would be in order to use solar energy to power millions of houses with all the appliances inside each house. Not to mention that there are days where the sun is only shining for 12 hours leaving 12 hours of darkness. Plus clouds can pop up from time to time.

Between clouds and nighttime , I'd guess that solar is viable maybe 20 % of the time. I don't know if the output is lesser in the winter due to the angle of incidence.

1% of the world's energy is supplied by solar and wind. That 1% costs as much as 45% of the conventional power supplied.

Space based solar power is a viable energy source. Of course, to get the power we'd need we would have to have a solar collection farm about 10 miles by 10 miles square. By we I mean the Army to run a test. The power is collect in a sat. and then uses a laser to 'beam' it down to the collectors.

Couple of problems. They won't let us put a laser in space the size we need be cause it falls into the weapon catagory (and we don't put weapons in space...everyone else does, but not us). Second, no one will let us build the collection farm on their land.

Google Dr. Seth Potter. Google the "One Light Bulb" project. He was talking about this back in the 1970s. The reason it hasn't taken off?

The billions needed to get it off the ground.

DUmmies are too F'N stooopid to realize that ALL the energy we currently use (except nuclear) came from the sun.

Plants absorbed the sunlight and stored it, animals ate the plants, both plants and animals were destroyed by asteroid, and their remains turned into coal, natural gas, and oil.

Well, life would not be the way it is now. THEY would be extinct, those who take responsibility for their own survival would be fine, probably happier in fact.
