What size nuclear disaster will convince us to ban nukes? Updated at 7:10 PM
Edited on Mon Mar-14-11 07:11 PM by grahamhgreen
If we lost a city, would that be big enough? (already happened - 336,000 were relocated due to Chernobyl)
How about a country?
A continent?
Do we really have to wait for that?
When will enough be enough, and we abandon this dirty dangerous fuel from a bygone era and move into the future of unlimited, renewable energy?

What is this unlimited renewable energy that you speak of?

5. Pro-nuker and pro-gunner atheist checking in.
Religious? Try practical.
When every reputable statistic says nuclear power is is the safest form of high-output efficient energy available to man right now, its hard to deny:

Chernobyl was the exception, not the rule. Nuclear plant construction is much safer now.
And when this whole thing in Japan blows over with no serious radiation leakage, it will bolster the case for nuclear here in America as well.
Yep just like the oil being cleaned up bolstered the case for more drilling. Oh wait.
I bet you any amount of money that due to what is going on we can kiss any nuclear energy goodbye.

2. I've been wondering just that myself.
Enough already with the nuclear plants. We have the means to do better, but we are running out of time to do it.
What means is that?
Do they really believe that windmills and solar panels can produce enough energy to power an entire nation?
Maybe if we only had 1 lightbulb in every house and no appliances that could work.

Seems to work for the North Koreans...well...except for the homes of dear leader and his buds.

These people are fools. They want to get away from coal and oil yet would like to ban the only thing that could make it possible at this point in time.
Well designed, maintained nukes are a good thing. These nukes in Japan were 40 years old and due to be shut down. A 40 year old car won't match an modern one in terms of safety and features because they weren't thought of or around when it was made. A 40 year old nuke is much the same.
At least as far as I see it. I'd love to see more nukes being built.

According to your communist community organizer occupying the white mosque, until Iran has nuclear bombs and blows up Israel and the U.S. That's how anti-American that so-called "leader" is.

How bad does a car crash have to get before we are convinced to stop driving cars?
How bad does a airliner crash have to be to convince us to give up flying?
How many Barak Obama's have to get elected before we give up on our republican form of government?
Just because disasters happen is no reason to give up progress.
Unless you are a DUmmie and then the only response is to retreated to mommy's basement, scarf down the cheetos, and complain about the world to your fellow losers.
