How many ways can you save?

Reducing energy consumption is maybe the best way to insure we have enough. We all know how to do it.

Keep your thermostats at livable temperatures, not comfortable ones. Buy more fresh food, more often, so you don't need to blast your refrigerator. Drive less. Turn things off that consume electricity when not in use, and try to use them less.

But does anyone have a tip to share that maybe isn't so obvious?

I always charge my cell phone in my car whenever I can, so I'm not using additional energy to do this. Maybe we can all share some ideas. What's yours?

Well if we use the Democrat logic on saving money and balancing the budget, teh best way to conserve energy is to leave every light and appliance on in our homes 24/7.

I figure if more govt spending is the answer to being broke more energy consumption should save us energy.

5. Unplug chargers and appliances when not in use, they can draw power even when they are off

Slightly less useful...
Eat with your hands and avoid washing silverware.
Use your hand instead of TP, you were going to wash them afterward anyway.
Sponge baths
Go on a diet

Rip the door panels, dash board, roof liner, trunk liner, all decorative but useless pieces out of your car to save weight.

16. I bought a hybrid car

Tomorrow it goes on its first long road trip.

I'm enjoying the savings on gas. :woohoo:

While costing more money than a non-hybrid car.

21. No I wasn't aware of that

I'm also supposedly at risk for having a wreck when my accelerator sticks. Of course, that's what the internets says. :)

So far, no problems. And I LOVE 48 mpg.

34. Those batteries have to come from somewhere

And they have to be made out of something, and it has to go somewhere after the car dies.

You could get comparable mileage by conscientiously driving any compact car.

60. If I did ONE thing in my adult life to improve my financial well being it would be developing an

annual budget. Simply having a budget shows me where I need to cut back, where I CAN cut back and helps me with flexibility and security in my life. It gives me control and having that is worth a LOT. I am baffled that so many people don't have budgets...

Hey the feds don't have a budget, why should we?

I'm glad the Primitives are cutting back. I have always run my AC at a comfortable level (as opposed to livable).

Winter heating is there to keep me WARM. Its not there to keep me bundled up inside my home.
Summer AC is to cool me down. Its not there to keep me so hot I have to run electric fans all the time.

You Primitives go ahead and cut back. I intend to be comfortable, thank you.

G
oh yes, Screw the earth!
Gaia had this coming a long time (whats with those Ice ages, Bi@tch?).  Thank you.

One way in which the primitives can save about forty bucks a month is by aborting their internet service, and dealing with the real world.

We, and they, would all be happier, more fulfilled.

I've got an idea. We ship all DUmmies/liberalcrats to the places that they support such as Cuba, Venezuela, and terrorist strongholds in the mid-east. It would save us money as a country and once the folks that they support meet the DUmmies/liberalcrats face-to-face it will cut down on the drain upon the world's natural resources.

I suppose it is silly to point out to the primitive that like so many lib talking points there two are in conflict with each other.
Sounds good  to say and makes one feel better though. :whatever:

Livable temperatures could mean different things to different people. Before I got a wood furnace my oil one broke and I lived with a 49 degree house for several weeks. I'd rather be comfortable in an winter up here.

I buy stuff right from the local farmers however I use the fridge just as much as I did before, possibly even more so as I fill a freezer with meat.

I drive a car more efficient then most of what they drive and driving less isn't an option, not that I'd drive less if it was.

Turn things off that consume electricity? I think we all do that to a reasonable extent. Sure we won't all unplug power bars but we'll all turn off the TV, lamp or radio.

The best way to conserve energy is to stop breathing. It works every time rarely without fail.

 :hammer:

Does this person not understand how things work? Charging it in your car takes power too, so yes it is additional electricity. Plug anything into your car and it has to burn more gas to power it, or to recharge the battery...

Screw the moonbats. I like to wear a T-shirt in the winter, and a sweater in the summer, and I like to use warm covers on my bed in the summertime. If I wanted to save money, I'd look for some way that doesn't affect my comfort. Maybe buy paperbacks instead of hardcover books, or maybe go to less expensive restaurants, something like that. I hope it never comes to that, but you never know for sure. Whenever I'm being really wasteful, I comfort myself by thinking how much moonbats would resent it.

I wonder how much energy we could save if everyone agreed to stop using some of those really high energy things like X-ray units, CT scanners, PET scanners, and MRIs.  Not only could we save tons of energy, we could reduce the carbon footprint of the human race really quickly.   :rotf:

I bought a new energy efficient fridge. New 15 SEER AC unit and replaced a bunch of incandescents with florescent and LED bulbs. Brought the electricity bill down to 100-125 a month from over 300-400.  My car runs 2 weeks on 9 gallons of gas. I've done more than my part DUmmie. Besides the stupid car charger thing what have you really done?

I've always found I conserve massive amounts of energy by getting the wife on top. Myself, I'm partial to Reverse Cowgirl - that way, I can respond to emails on my iPhone without having to listen to her piss and moan about it.

But that's just me doing my part. What can I say? I'm a giver.  :-)

I just clip coupons and save at retailers and grocery stores.  I have no care in the world to set my A/C at 80 degrees in the summer or anything like that.  We did put up some energy saving panels on our east facing windows for this summer.  We will find out if those will save us some pennies this summer.  It doesn't matter if you set your A/C temp higher, the electricity company will continue to raise your rates anyway.

You just saved $0.0014 and 0.000037KWH in energy.

Here's a tip DUmmy - figure out a way to turn your stupidity into energy and power the world for free.

And...it only took 15 minutes of power to support the required on-line time to do so...if I ate a burrito...the resulting gas would easily pay for that.

We could all save lots of money by getting rid of our refrigerators and doing what my great-grandparents did.  They had a hand-dug cellar in the back yard, lined with straw, roofed with solid wood, and several layers of straw bales on that roof.  They also stacked bales in front of the door.  Every winter, they'd take off the roof and pack the cellar with snow, packed down hard enough to become ice.  Of course, this involved a lot of shoveling snow, hauling snow, and packing snow...but it worked.  They replaced the roof when it warmed up, removed it again when it snowed again, and kept at it until they had enough ice to last the summer.

Of course, it's a little less convenient than a refrigerator.  You certainly don't want to unstack the bales every time you want a drink...but it would do the job for nothing more than many hours of back breaking labor.

I can't figure out why all those global-warming, climate change believers aren't already doing this??   :???:
